Storm POV
A sudden slap on my chest and muffled words I couldn’t quite catch woke me from a peaceful slumber. I thought we had a great night, and being woken like this again was the last thing I had expected. Cloe was having another nightmare. I thought, after the shower, that Cloe would be in a good mood like me. Not to be dragged deep down into a nightmare, what could have triggered this?
I held her hand gently to my chest, with one hand, and pulled her closer to me, with the other. She was still struggling, but not as much. My gut said to tell her she was safe, not to do anything more, and to hold her tight. Whatever she was going through, I felt she needed to know she was here by her side and wouldn’t let her go.
I hate this.
My girl has been through enough, mentally and physically.
It was time for all that to stop.
But how do I get it to stop?
Cloe’s eyes opened and blinked a few times before they found.mine, and a promise to know more in the morning, when the light chased away the dark and the ghosts of the past were back in the closet. Cloe had managed to fall back to sleep, but sleep eluded me, so I hummed a soft lullaby, hoping my voice and child’s song would keep her safe from more dreams tonight.
Slowly, the sun rose, and Cloe eventually became fully awake enough to talk. She lifted her hand and her fingers over my cheek.
“Didn’t go back to sleep.” It was factual, not accusing; her tone was light, groggy from sleep.
“Want to talk about it?” I was ready for her to say no, but was relieved when she sighed and answered.
“Yeah, I suppose. It was nothing we did, please don’t take on the blame.” Cloe replied softly before she started her tale. I wanted to find that man, and his cohorts, and punch them senseless, not just for Cloe, but for her sister, too. If her father had been a real dad, that situation would never have happened, but then the sister might still have been promiscuous, just not in the house, but with men her own age,
“Are you okay now?” Cloe hadn’t cried as she told her story, almost like a reporter, reading out the news.
“Thanks for last night. I don’t know why that memory came up; It’s not like we did anything wrong or unwanted.”
“We can wait if you need more time.” I started, but Cloe put her fingers over my mouth.
“Don’t, what we did was beautiful, and I look forward to doing it again.” I smiled down at Cloe, leaned in and went to give her a brief kiss. She wrapped one arm around my neck and the other around the back of my head, holding me in place, not that I would have fought against her. I let Cloe take control of the kiss, as she investigated the kiss, probing my lips with her tongue, as if asking for entry, and I complied, and opened up. She thrust her tongue in my mouth, twirling and fighting my tongue. I couldn’t take it any longer and took over control, adding my own twist to the kiss, deepening it till we were both breathless.
“Do we have anything we need to do, or go today?” Cloe asked as she panted in short breaths.
“Today’s Wednesday, are you going to Grams today to care for her while Gramps goes fishing?” Cloe didn’t go last week or the week before because of her injury, but now that the stitches are out, it might have started up again.
“Yes, I forgot, time to get up, I think Gramps wanted an early start today.”
We got up. Cloe wanted to wear a dress today, to look a bit less casual than last time. Cloe had mentioned that Grams was all dressed up, like she was going out, and if that was their everyday clothes, she needed to put more effort into what she wore when visiting that home. It was also her first time back since the shooting, and Cloe admitted she was nervous that it might happen again. It took a bit to convince her it was a once-off, and she was safe, but was she? They have upped the security, and some have been sacked, even a maid was removed, but I wasn’t in on the whole reason behind it, not our place to question our great-grandparents.
“We need to call in Alan and talk to him off the record, see how he views this, because if they have been bedding Mia, maybe they are doing that with other girls, need to dig deeper into this one.”
“Will Alan turn a blind eye to us handling it?” I asked bringing the law into this, was more or less letting them know we were going to break a law or two.
“Leave it to me. I have known Alan a long time, and we have collaborated in other things that have not exactly been legal.” Dad said confidently. Making me wonder exactly what had happened in the past that Alan knew about but didn’t involve the police.
“Now, let’s talk about Mia. Do we want to keep her longer, and bait to lure the father in, or remove her from the equation?” Grandpa Savage asked, his fingers tapped on the table, to a tune only he could hear. A habit he has when he was angry, and trying to keep from exploding.
“Personally, we have all we need from her, it’s factory time?’ I replied. I loathed that woman for all she had done to her sister over the eyes.
“Agreed, we are done. Want the boys to have some fun with her first?”
“No, who’s to say with her kink that she doesn’t have an STD or something?” I jumped in fast; th less I know about her, the better.
“Then tonight we have her removed, under the cover of darkness, and be done with it.”
We talked some more about how to trap the father and the men before we broke up for lunch and family time. I was already missing Cloe and wanted to text her to find out how her day was going so far.
