Chapter 324

Skunk POV

Meeting Dan was the highlight of my night. I was in bed, relaxing, reviewing the night. The ceremony was good. Seeing Doom so happy made me feel emotional inside. He deserved to find a good woman; his life had not been easy with his dad being the Prez. It put all kinds of pressure on him. Not sure his father even knew how some kids at school acted around him, purely because

of it.

Then meeting Dan, that little guy was dynamite, and I am sure a handful for his mother, at times.

His mother, Pip, was cautious.

All I know is that she is Wrench’s‘ little sister, and that I should be gentle, not sure what to do about that, like, is the father around? He wasn’t at the party, or if he was, he never came near her.

Yes, Dan has claimed me as his Dad. That shocked me, but I played along. Kids have different ways of looking at things; possibly calling me Daddy was a way of saying he trusted me.

My brain went in circles till I managed to drift off to sleep.

Someone trying to get into my carriage woke me early in the morning.

“Sir, someone last night drove into the fence, orders, sir.” A Nom was at my doorway before I was ready to climb out of my warm bed. I told him to wait, then quickly washed and put on some clean clothes. He led me to the damage, and I cursed. The vehicle was abandoned, still stuck in the fence. I ordered the car to be removed and placed in the quarantine area, and for Scruffy to fix the fence, but to wait an hour before waking him; let the man sleep. As an afterthought, I hope the person who drove the car is alright.

Going back to bed was a waste, so I went to the kitchen and laughed and chatted with the staff as I made my breakfast, when small hands wrapped around my legs.

Dan was back and in front of the others, calling out in a clear voice, ‘Daddy‘. I am going to hear all about this for a while. Mind you, it was a blessing in disguise that btch I did not like, never slept with, never will, got the shock of her life, and deep down I hope that meant she would back off, go back to her guy, and never try it again with me. Some girls don’t give up, even when it’s clear you are not interested.

I pandered to the boy’s needs, and his mother, who looked adorable, was still half asleep, as if she was working on automatic. I know that feeling, having been there often enough myself. Pip allowed me to care for Dan and give him what he wanted to eat. I had cut the toast small, thinking he might take some, but it hadn’t occurred to me that he would continue to share each piece with me. I had to chuckle as he took up feeding me again. The toast and berries, keeping my attention on the boy, seemed to be the right thing to do. Besides, I was enjoying the lad’s attention.

Chapter 324

The food was gone, and it didn’t look like Dan was going to let me go. He appeared to want me to stay around him. I had no jobs today, I planned it to be a cleanup day, thinking there would be a lot of mess after the party. But the members were proud of their club refurbishment and, together, had been busy all day and night, keeping the place clean. I was proud of our members chipping in to keep it nice, unlike some of the public who came to see and have the free food and drink. Storm paid for the night to be free for all.

At the playground, Dan was instantly drawn to the tube slide. He laughed, giggled and screamed as he slid down to my waiting arms at the bottom, and raced to do it again.

Pip was seated on a log nearby, watching. A small smile on her face was magic.

Dan changed to a flying fox. Pip called something out, but I was too focused on ensuring Dan was

safe to hear it. Dan clung to the bar, and I ran underneath him, my hands at the ready to catch him

if he dropped, but the little tyke held on all the way to the end. He was a strong lad. This boy was testing my stamina, making me run about to cater to his needs. For me, it was more about ensuring he was safe, and when I stopped, because he was on something that didn’t need me, Dan called out to me to watch. Dan must be starving for male attention, because I can’t see Pip ignoring him, not that she was watching it all closely. Pip clapped and cheered along with each new obstacle, hearing her laughing. It was like a chime ringing in my heart. I wanted to hear it often; she deserved to laugh. At the same time, I was jealous of whoever the child’s father was for having her love and attention.

I walked inside the clubhouse, using the back way, and knocked on Storm’s office door. “Come in.” Storm was alone, doing paperwork. He looked up as I entered.
