Sleep was restless; thoughts of the impending meeting with my mother were eating away at me. I feel safe with Sprocket, but that doesn’t reduce the fear of what my mother was capable of. I was worried about a pending war, and those I had come to think of as my family would get hurt.

That was unacceptable.

It’s time to make a stand, but at what cost?

When I woke up, I needed to feel alive, to be me, and wanted something to keep my mind off my mother and her pending visit, so I jumped Sprocket’s bones. Poor guy, he was fast asleep; he had to wake soon anyway. I took what I wanted and got ready for work, feeling a lot better.

I love my bike, but until they dealt with my mother, in whatever way they could.

It was agreed I would ride on the back of Sprocket. It was better than I expected. Wrapping my arms around him, I heard him over the intercom in our helmets. He was singing softly to some music and probably didn’t realise I could hear him, which made me tingle inside.

At the door, I turned and waved goodbye to Sprocket and the guys, all waiting for me to enter the hospital. I pushed the door open, and I was now in a small foyer where I would be brought through. Once I get my ID pass, I won’t need to wait in the foyer, but this is to prevent unexpected visitors from entering this area. It’s not a place for the faint–hearted. It was not like a hospital ward, with all the cleaning product smells, and busy nurses running about, and moaning patients. This place was quiet; few walked the halls, unless it was start time, break time, knock off time, or a viewing of the deceased.
