When we got home, Luca carried Leon to his room, took off his shoes, and tucked him into bed. Watching him drift off, I couldn’t help but feel love and sadness. It was hard to put into words, but I knew that, somehow, I was giving him the world, even though I wasn’t sure of my own place.

Just as Luca turned to leave, I stopped him. The words came out before I could second-guess myself. “What about the tutors you mentioned? Leon hasn’t been to school yet, and I haven’t heard anything.”

Luca paused his hand on the door.

“Don’t worry. Everything’s under control. People are being verified, and by next week, you’ll have the timetable for everything. Just trust that they’re getting everything sorted out for Leon.”

I nodded, even though I wasn’t entirely convinced. At least they were doing what they promised. For now, I should be grateful for that.

It was getting late, and I figured Maria must be in her room next door to Leon by now. I didn’t want to disturb her, especially not when she needed rest. And honestly, I didn’t want to be alone either. The thought of being in this big, empty house at night made me uneasy.

So, I decided to stay with Leon tonight. I would sleep in his room, just for tonight. I didn’t want to be alone with my thoughts. And as I lay next to him, listening to his soft, steady breathing, I finally felt a little bit of peace.

I was deep in sleep when I felt hands on me. My first instinct was to scream, and so I did-but no sound came out. My chest tightened in panic as I tried to force my voice out, but before I could fully process what was happening, my eyes snapped open.

The room was dark. A heavy hand was clamped over my mouth, another pinning me down. My body reacted instantly I started thrashing, kicking, and doing everything I could to fight off my attacker.

Fear cons me like a violent storm, but then, a voice whispered through the darkness.

“Keep it down, little butterfly.”

The moment those words left his mouth, a cold wave of realization hit me.

Asher.

I stopped fighting, my breath coming in rapid gasps as my eyes adjusted to the darkness. He was here. In Le room. Holding me down.

My heart was beating fast as I tried to get a better look at him, but the dim lighting made it difficult to see his face.

My gaze darted toward Leon, who was turned away, sleeping soundly, blissfully unaware of the chaos happening just inches away from him. That was a relief-at least he wasn’t witnessing this.

Asher brought a finger to his lips. Shhh.

I knew exactly what that meant. Shut the fuck up.

Before I could protest, he slid his arms beneath me and lifted me effortlessly off the bed. I didn’t have a choice

but to go with him. Asher carried me out of the room, and once we were in the hallway, he shut the door behind us with a quiet click.

That’s when I saw it.

His shirt.

Even in the dim light, I could make out the dark, wet stains smearing across his chest. My stomach twisted. I swallowed hard as the metallic scent hit me, and then it clicked.

Blood.

My breath hitched. My hand trembled as I touched my mouth, feeling the same wetness that had pressed against my lips when he covered them. I pulled my fingers away, barely breathing as I looked down at the dark, stickiness on my skin.

Blood.

A choked gasp left my lips. My wide eyes snapped back to Asher.

“Oh my God… is it yours? Are you hurt?”

He looked down at me, still walking, not wasting a breath, not losing his momentum, and smiled. A dark, cruel smile as he continued on his way.

I was concerned about him, a knot of worry tightening in my chest, but I didn’t know how to express my feelings towards him or myself. And before I knew it, with a sudden, decisive motion, he opened my bedroom door, walked in, and then just threw me on the bed.

The impact sent a jolt through me. I bounced a couple of times, the soft mattress yielding, my hair flying everywhere, a little out of breath because of the sharp, surprised squeak that had escaped my mouth as he threw me. I was unprepared, utterly blindsided; I wasn’t expecting it.

I took a moment, the air catching in my throat, to control my breathing and then started, with trembling fingers, removing my hair from my face, trying to clear my vision. But before I could fully see, he was already there, a dark shadow looming over me, and his hands were everywhere.

The warmth of his lips pressed against the sensitive skin of my neck, sending shivers down my spine. He was kissing my shoulders, a slow, deliberate exploration, he was on my collarbone, his breath hot against my skin. he was fondling my breasts, the touch igniting a long-dormant fire within me, he was fondling my waist, h fingers tracing the curve of my body.

He was already on my thighs, his touch a mixture of reverence and possessiveness, touching, fondling, pinching, kissing, each sensation a shockwave through my system. I was lost in the moment, swept away by a

tide of sensation.
