Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 329

ARIELLA

I needed this....

Axel Moretti needed this.

We needed this.

Because after that...after what happened outside our door, it seemed to put a wedge between the two of us. We couldn't maintain eye contact for more than a few minutes. We seemed to be having a silent fight. We seemed to hold resentment and guilt, all each on our own...... And this moment that we had shared proved that we still needed each other.

It was the wire that connected us again, reminding us that we needed each other, that we were a team, and that it was us against the world.

I also think it helped Asher release all that pent-up anger and aggression, give him a clear mind to see that I wasn't blaming him, that he wasn't responsible for what had happened.

I wanted him to know I was supporting him and on his side. I wanted us to find whoever this person is and deal with that person soon and swiftly.

When I woke up in the morning, I wasn't expecting to find Axel, but I must have underestimated how tired he was and how powerful what had happened between us was, because when I woke up, he was sleeping so peacefully. He looked so at peace and relaxed. He didn't have a frown on his face. He didn't look like he was having a bad dream or, you know, still calculating in his sleep.

He looked so normal and so handsome without the world on his shoulders.

Of course, the peace didn't last long until the door was getting rattled and a knock started. I instantly knew that would be Leon, and I didn't want him to wake his father, so I quickly got off the bed, put on a robe and practically ran towards the door.

The moment I opened the door, there was Leon's bright, untainted face and mood.

“Good morning, mommy. Where is daddy? He promised me that we were going to go out and run in the morning and he didn't come wake me..... The sun is already up,” he said accusingly.

I smiled as I fully walked out and closed the door behind me and then crouched down so that I was at eye level with him.

“Well, you see, Leon, there has been a little change of plans.”

“What’s changed? He said that he runs every morning at five. Did he forget? Is he sick?” he asked.

I smiled.

“No, Leon. He is not sick. He's just tired and we should let him sleep in.”

He frowned. “Then when will we run?” he asked.

“Well, how about tomorrow? Or I don't know, you could go running with me this evening.”

“I have never seen you run before,” he asked, looking a bit sceptical.

“Well then,” I said, “that will make for a good exercise before you run with your dad because your dad won't be as lenient with you as I will be.”

“I don't know about that,” he said, and I couldn't help laughing again.

That was just Leon being Leon.

“Look, why don't you go downstairs, let me take a shower and then I'll come and join you.”

“What about daddy? Isn't he coming to join us?” he asked, hope in his eyes.

I didn't want to break his little hurt but I knew Asher really needed his sleep this morning.

“As I told you, kiddo, he was asleep, but when he wakes up, you will see him and you can ask him all those questions.”
