Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 335

ASHER

They all looked at me, a little surprised.

“We don’t go in through the main boarding entrance anymore.”

Luca leaned forward slightly. “Side entrance?”

I tapped my finger toward the screen once, thinking it over.

“Yes.” I decided

“The left or the right?”

“The left. You know I can never take a right.”

He seemed to think about it, watching the feed before he said, “That’s risky.”

I looked up slowly. Whatever he saw in my eyes made him nod before he turned to his earpiece and then started giving instructions to some of the men through the earpiece. Before our arrival, we had already sent men ahead to the warehouse to make sure there were no surprises.

I leaned back again and gave the tablet back to Luca, my eyes moving toward the window. I hoped this wasn’t an ambush. I hoped Alex Volkov had nothing to do with the attacks, but then thinking that also meant that I had to continue looking..... continue wondering who was behind all of this.

I hoped tonight’s meeting would give me an idea about what was going on, all things considered.

For a brief second, Ariella’s face flashed in my mind again, soft, stubborn, terrified, and brave all at once. My chest tightened. I hated that helpless look on her face.

But I also knew that she anchored me. Knowing how desperate she was for my safety and for my well-being reminded me of what was waiting for me back home, and that made me more dangerous than anything else.

The car suddenly slowed, and the driver’s voice came again. “We are here.”

Instantly, the atmosphere in the vehicle sharpened, weapons checked with controlled precision. I waited for Luca to get out with the men before they confirmed everything was clear, and then I stepped out of the car.

The cold air hit my face, carrying the scent of metal and death. The warehouse stood ahead, large, quiet, looking almost empty. But it wasn’t.

I adjusted my jacket once more before turning to the men. “Keep your positions.”

They moved immediately, no hesitation, no wasted motion. Luca was to my left, and another one of my best guards, Daniel, was to my right.

Together, we started walking toward the warehouse. As we walked toward the warehouse with slow, controlled, intentional steps, the gravel crunched beneath our shoes with each step. No one spoke. There was no need to.

The warehouse doors were partially open, not wide enough to welcome, but not closed enough to block. Daniel’s gaze swept the roofline, then the surrounding shadows, scanning for movement. His hand never left the inside of his jacket. The rest of the guards were already spread out, positioned near every exit and entrance to the warehouse.
