ARIELLA
Asher stayed there for a moment, standing between my legs as he looked down at me like he still couldn’t quite believe I was real.
And maybe that was ridiculous considering everything we had already been through together, but there was something about the way he looked at me lately that felt different. Softer. Hungrier. More protective..... More in love.
His fingers brushed lightly over my thigh before he leaned down again and pressed a kiss against my knee.
“You’re staring,” I teased softly.
“I’m appreciating,” he corrected calmly.
I laughed under my breath, shaking my head at him.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“And you love me anyway.”
Unfortunately for me... I really did.
He reached for the dress that lay neatly at the end of the bed and tossed it toward me.
“Get dressed before Leon storms in here again and traumatises himself.”
I snorted.
“He already thinks you’re dramatic.”
“He gets that from you.”
“I do not.....”
The bedroom door suddenly rattled with aggressive knocking.
“Mom! Dad!” Leon’s voice shouted from outside. “Breakfast is getting cold!”
Asher closed his eyes slowly.
“See?” I whispered with a grin.
He pointed toward the door without looking at it. “Five minutes,” he called out.
“That’s what you said ten minutes ago!” Leon argued immediately.
Asher looked at me blankly. “Your son is getting on my last nerves.”
“Our son,” I corrected.
“Not when he’s annoying me.”
I laughed again while sliding off the bed and wrapping the towel tighter around myself. Asher watched me shamelessly the entire way.
“You’re staring again.”
“You're my wife. It’s allowed.”
"When did you begin to follow the law, Don Romano?"
"I'm an upstanding citizen, Mrs Romano."
I rolled my eyes, though I could feel the warmth rising into my cheeks anyway.;The morning light had started slipping through the curtains now, soft and golden, making the entire room feel warmer than before.
“You adore him.”
“I absolutely do,” he admitted instantly. And somehow hearing that made me love him even more.
When we went downstairs to breakfast, Leon went to get Sia, and Maria was already at the table, and I managed to get Margaret and William to join us this morning, although they were scared of Asher, which was ridiculous. Asher didn’t say anything, and I was the woman of the house. I set the tone.
We were all at the table, and at least the table this time looked a little bit full, everyone there, everyone laughing, having a quiet, beautiful morning together. It felt normal, warm, and Safe. And after everything that had happened lately, I realised how badly I needed that.
When we were done, Leon and Sia went to his study room to start their school work, and everybody else excused themselves. Margaret and William went next, and then Maria, and before I knew it, it was just Asher and me sitting there in the quiet dining room, next to each other.
“So what’s on the agenda today?” I asked. “You’re working at home?”
“No,” he said. “Unfortunately, I have somewhere to be this morning, and then I have this little work to do later at the docks in the evening.” He paused before adding, “I’ll try and see if I can come back and have lunch with you, but if I can’t, I’ll call you.”
“Okay,” I said softly.
So he came toward me then. He gave me a peck and then a kiss and then another, and then he kissed me like he was trying to completely fuck my brains out with his tongue. Hard, Deep and Possessive.
He leaned me down on the table, and I had my hands around his neck, ready to pull him down over me, when he suddenly pulled away, taking a huge breath and adjusting his trousers, because yes, he was hard, and I was so ready for him.
“Later,” he said with a wink.
“You are sooo....." Bad,” I told him breathlessly.
He laughed back and gave me an air kiss before he walked out the door, leaving me there a little sexually frustrated but also smiling to myself as I shook my head at Asher's theatrics.
As soon as I had calmed myself down, I went to check on Sia and Leon. They were used to me coming in and out of the room now, so they just continued with their studies as I watched, not bothered by my presence.
I stayed there for a few seconds, watching them quietly before I walked out again and made my way toward Asher’s study. I missed him and wanted to be in his space since he wasn't here.
