Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 448

ARIELLA

Until... I found myself inside the house.

The first door led into the kitchen. It was completely quiet. There wasn't a cook in sight, although there were signs that someone had been cooking here not too long ago; the kitchen was still warm, and there were dishes in the sink.

From there, I made my way into Luca's office and found it easily. But it, too, was empty. Nobody was inside. But from the smell lingering in the air... I could tell Asher had been here.

I walked back out and looked through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The place was guarded like the White House. There was enough security outside to scare anyone from even thinking about breaking in, even though it wasn't over the board like our home.

Yet inside... It was eerily quiet. I wondered where Luca was. I called him again, but He didn't answer my call either. I called Asher next, and still Nothing.

Then... I thought I heard voices upstairs. I thought maybe Luca was up there. Trying not to make any noise, I started climbing the stairs carefully. This wasn't my house. I'd never been here before, and I didn't know who else lived here.

I had no idea what or who was waiting upstairs. So I stayed quiet and Careful. I followed the voices toward one of the bedrooms upstairs, and as I got closer, one of the voices sounded familiar. It sounded a lot like Asher's voice.

But then... I heard a woman's voice, too, and it sounded familiar as well. Without really thinking about it, I found myself tiptoeing toward the room. I could hear Asher speaking, but I couldn't make out the words from the hallway.

Then I did something stupid and leaned toward the keyhole. Of course, I still couldn't see or hear anything. I sighed.

What am I doing?

You know what... I'm not doing this. I'll just walk in.

I reached for the handle and quietly opened the door. My heart beat super fast, afraid of what awaited me on the other side of the door. I found myself inside a bedroom, and it was exactly what I expected. But... There was no one there.

I knew I had heard voices. Then I heard the voices again and realised where they were coming from. The en-suite bathroom. Without thinking about it either, I found myself tiptoeing toward the bathroom.

The bathroom door wasn't fully closed. It was slightly ajar and now... I could hear them clearly.

"Don't get any closer."

Asher's voice.

The words stopped me in my tracks.

"I know you want me, Asher," the woman answered. "Stop playing so hard to get."

"I'm not playing hard to get.... Jesus."

A pause. Then—

"Shit... what the fuck did you put in my drink?"

"Asher..." the woman said softly. "You know I should have been your wife. I was always meant to be Don Moretti's wife, not Ariella."

"Do not talk about my wife."

Asher's voice came out cold.

"Oh, please." She laughed. "She can't handle it. You see the way she's crumbling under all the pressure?"

My heart stopped.

"I should be your wife. Leon should have been my son."

I froze.
