ARIELLA
Everyone paused.
The voice wasn't loud, but everyone heard it. Every person turned toward the sound. It was Luca. And he had a gun pointed directly toward Yuri.
"Everyone, stop now."
His voice was calm and controlled, almost like he hadn't just changed the entire direction of the night.
"I want weapons down, and everybody move away."
Nobody moved at first. Nobody knew what to think because Luca was standing there with a gun in his hand, and nobody knew whose side he was truly on anymore.
Bastian was the first one to react. A slow smile spread across his face as he looked toward Asher.
"I told you." His voice carried through the silence. "Tonight, I'm going to get everything that I came for."
He smiled wider. "And I never lose." His eyes moved toward Luca. "I chose the right team."
Then he walked toward Luca.
"I chose wisely."
Bastian reached Luca and smiled brightly as if they were old friends celebrating a victory. He lightly tapped Luca's shoulder.
"I knew I made the right move trusting you." He laughed softly. "Even though the trust was a little shaky at first. We weren't exactly sure if we could trust you."
Luca looked at him, Expressionless.
"Then it's a good thing you trusted me."
For a second, Bastian smiled. Then Luca moved. Fast. Before anyone could react, he produced another weapon. The cold metal pressed against Bastian's head..... The entire world seemed to stop.
Then, when everyone froze, staring at the scene. Luca suddenly removed the gun that had been pointed toward Yuri and now had both weapons aimed at Bastian.
Everyone froze. Everyone stared. Because nobody understood what the hell was going on, we were all lost. Not Yuri, not Bastian, not even Asher.
And then Luca turned toward him. Toward Asher and spoke. His voice was calm.
"What are you waiting for?"
But Asher didn't move. He couldn't. His eyes were locked on Luca. His right-hand man, His best friend, His brother. The man who had stood beside him through everything and the man he trusted more than anyone.
He must have known about his betrayal. He must have known Luca had been the one behind this. The silence between them was worse than any scream.
"Luca."
Asher said his name quietly. Not with anger, not with rage, not even with hurt, but Something else. Something I couldn't understand. It sounded like disbelief, like he couldn't accept what he was seeing.
But Luca didn't look away.
"Come on." His voice hardened. "Get the weapons and seize them. We don't have all day."
Still, Asher remained frozen. Because this wasn't just about saving us anymore. This was about the man standing in front of him.
The man who had betrayed him.
