Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 60

Chapter 60

Tears blur my vision as I look at him – this man who would shoulder all the blame just to take the pain away from me.

“I just love you so much, Asher,” I whisper.

I rise up on my toes, my heart pounding, and he meets me halfway. Our lips find each other, the kiss slow and deep, the kind that says everything words can’t.

That kiss it’s everything.

It gives me assurance.

It gives me peace.

It calms the storm inside me.

At that moment, nothing else matters – not the gunshots, not the fear, not the danger still out there somewhere. All that matters is Asher.

That he’s alive. That he’s with me.

A throat clears behind us, and we break apart to find Luca standing awkwardly in the hallway.

“You guys can take the bedroom,” he says, glancing away politely. “I’ll be in the living room if you need anything.”

Then he turns and disappears down the hall.

Asher chuckles quietly under his breath and takes my hand. That’s when I noticed, next to the bathroom, there’s a small door tucked into the wall.

Asher opens it, revealing a cosy bedroom.

We step inside. He closes the door behind us, shutting out the world.

The two of us sit down together on the bed, the mattress creaking softly under our weight.

For the first time in what feels like forever, I let myself breathe.

Asher shifts, then stretches out on the bed, lying on his side. He lifts his right hand toward me without a word.

I slip my hand into his, and he gently tugs me onto the bed. I lie down on my side, facing him. He watches me quietly, and I watch him too.

There’s nothing we need to say.

Our eyes, our breathing, the way our bodies seem to find their own language – that’s enough.

His hand slides around my waist, pulling me closer, and pressing me against him. The warmth of him

seeps into me, lulling me into a peace I haven’t felt in what feels like forever.

Sleep creeps up on me slowly. The last thing I feel is the steady rhythm of his breathing before darkness pulls me under.

I wake with a start. The room is still shrouded in darkness.

For a moment, I just lie there, listening. The cabin is silent except for the sounds of the forest outside – the rustle of the trees, and the occasional call of birds or insects.

Soft.

Alive.

Safe.

I glance at Asher. He’s still fast asleep, his chest rising and falling steadily. I slip carefully out of bed, not wanting to disturb him. I open the bedroom door, tiptoeing into the hallway and finding my way back to the bathroom.

After I relieve myself, a deep ache settles into my muscles – all that running, the fear, the adrenaline finally catching up to me.

The shower calls to me, promising relief. I turn on the water, step inside, and let the warm spray wash over me, soothing every tired part of me.

When I finish, I wrap myself in a soft towel. I feel better after taking a bath, though still worn out.
