“The cartel chemist who cooked the dust was a Draven, my aunt. Feroz wanted her and took her by force. He made her produce more dust than any warehouse could hold, enough to last years. Then he stored it in sixteen warehouses and became their lord. He had errand boys distributing it across his territory. My aunt, exposed to the chemicals for years, eventually died. To compensate us, he gave us many slaves to serve until their deaths, delivering ten percent of the warehouse drugs. Among those slaves is
your mother.”
I nod slowly, pulling back as the pieces fall into place. The drugs I had taken the night before came from the warehouse. It wasn’t the Dravens controlling it. The true lord was Feroz. Good. Just great.
“I have to go, and I’m taking my mother with me.” I say, my tone firm, leaving no room for
argument.
I walk to gather my few belongings. Just then, the sound of footsteps approaches. Security men move to knock on Evalina’s door, and she glances at me suspiciously before opening mine, finding the men standing in the hall.
“Ah, ma’am, so this is where you are. Two security guards were found dead. One appears to have overdosed, while the second…” He hesitates “…was shot cleanly in the head.”
Silence falls. I stay alert, watching for any sudden attack. Then her voice comes, calm but sharp.
“Clear their bodies.” She closes the door on their faces and turns to me. Her eyes meet mine before she nods. “You did it, didn’t you?”
She steps closer, palm on my chest, her lips brushing mine.
“The guards were harassing the maids. They must have come last night, too, when you were with her.” She searches my eyes, and my silence confirms everything. Quietly, she leans in for a kiss, but I pull away, swallowing hard. I can’t. I did it once under my father’s orders, not
anymore.
I meet Eva’s gaze and see the genuine concern there. It forces honesty from me.
“I have a woman waiting for me,” I say, and she stares, unblinking, for a long moment.
“You can take your mother with you.”
With that, she pulls back and walks to the window, biting her lower lip. I don’t wait. I head for the exit. But at the door, she calls out, and I pause. I turn to see her staring at me, eyes

“I don’t care who she is. This woman in your heart but know this. I will come find you soon. When I arrive, I will take you all,to myself. If I can’t have you, then she won’t either.”

The private jet of Cupid Godlike touches down late that evening. I sit still, eyes on my mother, still asleep, hands clutching mine.
She came with me. She had been excited when I appeared that morning to extend my hand. She has already packed, carrying only a frame of us together, from twenty years ago, which she had treasured like her life.
Footsteps sound, and Desmond appears in the doorway.
“Boss…”
“Shhh,” I cut him off, not wanting to wake her. “Just a few more minutes.”
We wait another forty minutes until she begins to stir, fluttering her eyes open. She pauses, probably wondering where she is. Then she find my face and quickly sits up, hugging me tightly.
I kiss her hair, watching her tenderly as she pulls back.
“Jahan…” she breathes. The name fills me with more than the weight of my violent life. It gives me purpose, roots, a family. Something more fulfilling than anything I’ve known.
“This is Desmond,” I say, nodding to my cousin standing in the doorway. “He will take
you
somewhere.”
She shakes her head immediately, but I take her hand and caress it.
“When I was searching for you, for Marlik, for Yasmin, I believed I would find you one day. That’s why I had a house ready, in the heart of the city, built in Marlik’s name. Everything is there. Fully furnished, with maids, a butler, a housekeeper, a garden, and rooms. They will kneel to you, Mom. They will obey you. Desmond will guide you, and a doctor, a friend of mine, will come to check on you. The right medication will be prepared. You’ll rest, recover, and live properly. I’ll check on you tonight, after finishing what I must.”
She doesn’t move at first. She searches my eyes and slowly asks, her voice barely above a whisper, as though afraid of the answer.
“You’re wealthy. Educated. You’ve changed, but your heart… it’s still the same. Tell me, the Alpha, is he the one behind your transformation The one who took you away and declared you dead?”

“He has his reasons. He is my father. He adopted me, gave me a new name and a new life. Enrolled me in the best schools, trained me harshly. I work as a model in his company and control his finances. I am fine, and you will be too. Okay?”
She finally nods, and I kiss her temple before stepping away toward the car waiting to take me to Godlike Pack. Desmond walks beside me, and I pause at the car door.
“Be gentle with her. Call Varian to check her medical status. Find me everything on Marlik Rogue, the prison he’s in. Check on the name Feroz Ginger and get me something about Yasmin Rogue. I need it ready before I return.”
“Yes, boss,” he says.
The chauffeur opens the car door, and I slide inside, leaning back. I don’t dare look at the jet. I know if I do, I’ll see her staring, wishing I wouldn’t leave her again.
