I didn’t respond. My silence was enough to tell her I didn’t want anything else. I remained seated, flabbergasted, still numb, my eyes fixed on absolutely nothing.
My private jet had touched down at the private airport past midnight, yet I still couldn’t bring myself to move.
The boss of the Horn Mafia Gang had welcomed me the moment I arrived at his doorstep in a fortress built for unspeakable things, known to both innocent humans and werewolves alike.
It was a den of sex slaves.
Girls too young. Women too old. Men young and old as well, all kept for wealthy, lonely women or men who wanted to be fucked hard. A place where flesh was currency and being horny was routine.
I was led into the master bedroom, only to find the so–called “preparation” made in my honor.
Whores.
Ready. Dripping. Waiting.
I hadn’t come for entertainment, and I knew I wouldn’t be indulging in anything like that anytime soon.
Karfey Mantis, the Mafia Boss of the Horn Gang, gave me his full attention. He showed respect, and I returned it.
“Cupid,” he said from behind before stepping forward. “I’ve always wanted to meet you. My goodness… you’re a werewolf?”
He was older than I’d imagined, almost ten years my senior. Fine gray hair. Neat. Tidy. The kind of man no one would guess did the dirtiest work imaginable.
“Karfey Mantis,” he introduced himself, extending his hand.
I shook it firmly.
“For you to come alone,” he said, sighing as he studied me, “that lady must mean a lot to you.”

“She’s a Godlike,” I replied. “My sister.”

“Hm.” He smiled faintly. “I saw her picture. We hadn’t even uploaded it to our site before the demands started coming in. She’s an angel.”
His gaze sharpened.
“I’ll speak to my men at the casino. They’ll erase her completely. But it’ll cost you.”
I nodded. I’d expected that.
Then he leaned back, eyes never leaving mine.
“I hear the Godlike Mafia Empire is rolling out a new fine dust soon,” he continued. “How about we trade in that too? My clients would appreciate the high, and it’s a smart investment for you. Wider territory. Bigger reach.”
He smiled calmly.
“You can think about it. You’ve got my contact. Let’s work together.”
I left his city almost immediately after clearing Almira’s name but now, seated in my jet, I couldn’t stop thinking.
What kind of addiction drove Yenda to gamble so deeply he’d use his own blood sister as collateral?
Then again… blood didn’t always mean loyalty.
Snow’s case proved that.
Sometimes, the safest people weren’t family at all.
Marlik and I were proof of that too.
“Boss?” a voice interrupted my thoughts.
I blinked and realized we’d landed.
I sighed and stood, stepping off the jet slowly.
This was Godlike ground. My father’s portion of assets. The private runway. Beyond it, the public terminal buzzed with passengers alighting from a commercial flight.
I headed toward the exit, knowing Desmond would be waiting.

The air was cold. The ground still steamed slightly, evidence of recent rain.
Almira would be waiting too. I knew that.
Lost in thought, I barely noticed the crowd, until I bumped into a woman.

I pulled back immediately, preventing any real damage. Her travel bag slipped from her hand. I picked it up, handed it to her gently as an apology, then walked on without looking back.
“Boss,” Desmond greeted, opening the car door.
I slid inside with a tired sigh.
He settled behind the wheel and passed me a cigarette pack, knowing I needed it more than anything.
“How was it?” he asked.
“Fine,” I murmured, lighting one. “Karfey Mantis is a beast. Smart man. He wiped Almira off the records but he made a proposal.”
Desmond frowned.
“What proposal?”
“He wants to trade with us. Fine dust. The cocaine from Feroz’s warehouses.”
He nodded slowly.
“Marketing probably reached him already. So what’s your answer?”
I shrugged, thinking.
“He knows business. What’s his front?”
“Real estate. He sells land, launders trafficking money through it. His net worth is insane. I can get you a full file.”
“You should,” I said, exhaling smoke. “We may be partnering soon.”
I dropped the cigarette butt into the ashtray and reached for another, then paused.
Desmond wasn’t driving. He was watching me.
“What?” I asked.

I stiffened. I never carried my personal phone on mafia business.
“Who?” I asked.
He hesitated.
“Snow?” I pressed.
“Her brother.”

throat.
“She was abducted. They called asking if she was with you. I traced her phone, found it was tapped. Her brothers are the one trying to locate her. She’s safe now. Minor scratches. She’s in the hospital.”
He met my eyes.
“They’re keeping it quiet. No media. You don’t need to worry.”
But the truth was… I already was.
