Chapter 16
Snowflakes
“How about you move in here before the divorce is finalized, Snow?”

When my father asked this, I had no choice but to look at him tenderly. We were seated alone in his bedroom, late at night, his lamp dim, and he already dressed to retire to bed.
The day had passed in the sweetest kind of peace. Having breakfast and lunch with my family again felt like the best thing that could ever happen to me, as though I had never left for even a second.
They seemed to have forgotten my past choices entirely and embraced me, welcoming
back with love and affection.

“Divorce between a wolf and a human has to go through court. I’m lucky our vows weren’t taken before the Moon goddess shrine. Those are nearly impossible to break. I’ll be fine staying in Ares‘ mansion until the divorce is finalized. I’ll come here too… to sleep over anytime…” I paused, swallowing hard as my voice dropped low. “That is… if I’m welcome, Father.”
Silence settled between us before he reached for my hand, giving it a tender squeeze, looking into my eyes with so much love and admiration it almost broke me.
“You are my daughter, Snowflakes. Born on Christmas Day. You are the sister of my three sons, and this house is your home. No matter what you’re going through, you know we are all here for you. Right?”
Somehow, I felt undeserving. Searching his eyes, my voice failed me. Instead, I leaned in to hug him, and he patted my back gently, softly.
After a few minutes, I pulled back, sniffed lightly, and drew the coverlet properly over him.
“Good night, Dad,” I whispered. He smiled and lowered his eyes, closing them peacefully.
I slipped out of his room, closing the door quietly behind me.
Earlier, I had sent Ares a text and ignored all his calls before switching off my phone entirely, since he wouldn’t stop calling like a madman.
I walked into the grand living room where my brothers were seated, pausing at the entrance with a soft sigh.
Night had fallen, and the snow was drifting down, masking the ground and trees, creating a gentle ambience. Everything felt peaceful.

My brothers were all settled in their usual spots, Sera leaning tenderly against Roc, the other two seated on opposite couches. The television screen was paused, Kashi holding the remote.
I walked further in and, realizing I had arrived, Kashi spoke first.
“Oh, she’s here. Now let’s start.”
“A new movie?” I asked, taking my seat on the sofa.
“It’s Pinky’s new movie,” Eshan replied, and I paused for a moment, slowly exchanging glances with
my other brothers. Eshan instantly noticed.
“What?”
None of us spoke. We all knew what happened whenever we watched Pinky’s movies. Pinky, Eshan’s girlfriend, is a top actress in the industry, and Eshan is a jealous freak who hates any romance scene involving her and another man.
Years ago, they had a heated argument that almost ended their relationship. He’d demanded she quit acting, and after days of pleading, he relented, but only under the agreement that she wouldn’t take romantic roles.
Now I wondered if that agreement still stood.
Kashi finally pressed play, and Roc asked quietly, “Shouldn’t we wait for Mirena?”
Kashi, Mirena’s boyfriend, shook his head.
“She’s working late.”
The movie played, and we all turned toward the screen. It opened with Pinky’s first appearance, and I couldn’t help but smile proudly, though a little sad.
She was so beautiful, and the badass role suited her perfectly. She was taking revenge on her cheating husband, something ironically close to my own situation.
The last time I saw her was a month ago. She’d been filming near Ares‘ mansion, and I had joined her on set for drinks. She was sweet, just like Sera.
I got lost in thought until the tense atmosphere dragged me back. I blinked and focused on the screen again. Slowly an hour and a half passed, and the movie was nearing its end.
The cheating husband was clinging to Pinky, begging her not to leave at the end.
“Bullshit,” Eshan muttered, making all of us turn to him. He was glaring at the physical contact between Pinky and the actor.

As though to make matters worse, the actor’s palm slid to Pinky’s lower back, and tension thickened. He leaned in, as if to kiss her, only for Pinky to suddenly stab him. She watched him fall, then walked away into the night, her revenge complete.
We all exhaled in relief because she didn’t play a kissing scene.
If she had, Eshan would’ve erupted.
“It’s an interesting movie. I mean… killing a cheating man is simply the best revenge a wife can give, right?” Kashi commented lightly, trying to ease the tension, unaware of how my heart twisted in turmoil.
Stabbing a cheating husband.
Could I do that to Ares for what he has done to me? Manipulating me… stopping me from getting justice… using me?
Is stabbing him the right punishment?
I was deep in thought when the sound of a car entering the garage echoed through the house. Kashi raised an eyebrow and went to the window to look.
“It’s Mirey and Pinky,” he announced, heading to the door.
Moments later, we heard kissing. Kashi and Mirena before they all walked in. Pinky froze when she saw me. So did Mirena.
“My goodness. I can’t believe she’s back,” Pinky said, hurrying to me. I stood to hug her, and when she pulled away, her beautiful face broke into a bright smile.
“Because of you, I left my work at the office and rushed over. When Sera told me you were arriving today, I knew I had to come.”
This time, it was Mirena who stepped forward, taking my hand and searching my eyes.
Of all my brothers‘ women, she was the strictest and the bluntest. In the few times we’d met over the years, she had never hesitated to tell me I’d made the wrong choices by ignoring my family. She’d say it plainly, without caring how I felt afterward.
I braced myself for her verdict.
“Don’t think you’ll be running off again just because we forgave you so easily,” she said at last, and my heart clenched, not in sadness, but in joy.
Her expression softened, and she pulled me into her arms, hugging me tight.
“I missed you so much.”

The greetings continued, warm and overwhelming.
“Father must be asleep, right?” Pinky asked, and I nodded. She turned to Eshan, who had been unusually quiet for a while. She sensed it. Her gaze flicked to the TV, to the ending of her movie, and realization hit her.
“I… I didn’t take any romantic roles, Eshan,” she said quickly, defending herself before he could accuse her. But he didn’t respond, frustrating her. “Eshan…”
“I’m going to sue that actor for putting his hands on my woman,” he muttered, making me almost groan.
Why is he so jealous? So possessive?
Oh goodness.
I turned toward the window, watching the snow falling softly outside, and a sweet smile curled at my lips as a quiet wish rose inside me.
The lovers of my brothers were all here… but my own heart felt empty.
If a wish could be granted now, I wished for a man who would love me fiercely, who would stop at nothing to keep me, who would guard me with fire in his veins and hunger in his eyes…
Let him be mine. In every breath. In every heartbeat.
