Congratulations.” The words came to me only after the documents were all signed and sealed.
I nodded in quiet appreciation and watched as each of the shareholders rose and left the conference hall one by one, leaving only Yenda seated at the CEO position, my father at the chairman’s seat, and Desmond standing right behind me while I remained seated, staring at the untouched bottle of table water in front of me.
Growing up, I had been the young boy who would eat and drink anything without a second thought, but after years of killing and earning deadly enemies, I had become far more disciplined.
Poisoning was very real, and it could bring even someone like me down to my knees in agony.
“You both should try getting along,” my father’s voice finally broke the silence. “I won’t tolerate either of you creating unnecessary scenarios.”
We stayed silent, listening intently. My father’s voice turned to me, and he sighed deeply.
“Cupid, this is still your elder brother’s fort. He remains the CEO, so you obey his orders without question.”
I nodded, keeping quiet as always, and he turned to Yenda, who bowed slightly, lowering his gaze in submission.
The sin he had committed concerning Almira was still fresh in everyone’s mind, and my father wasn’t ready to forgive him just yet. He stared at him narrowly, his disapproval clear.
“Cupid is now the one in charge of all finances. You get his explicit permission before spending a single penny from the company. Do you understand?”
Yenda nodded stiffly, and I glanced at him, noticing the faint traces of his jawline tensing in helpless, suppressed anger.
My father sighed again and rose from his seat, ready to return to the pack and focus on pack affairs. We all stood up immediately in respect. As he prepared to leave, I followed a step closer to speak.
“Dad, there is something I must inform you about,” I said calmly, and he paused, turning to give me his full, undivided attention. “It’s about the Horn Mafia Gang.”

He nodded, signaling for me to continue.
“The one you met last night?” He asked.

“Yes. Karfey Mantis is his name. He proposes to work with us on the fine dust we will release
onto the streets soon.”
Hearing this, he paused to think briefly about it, then nodded thoughtfully.
“What do you think of him?”
“Karfey Mantis is a smart man, sharp and capable.”
“He won’t weigh us down or become a liability?”
I shook my
head firmly.
“I went into his fort last night, and I saw for myself the world he commands. The sex trade alone, Dad, it’s massive and crazy. He can definitely handle a partnership from us, and to be honest, the fine dust is a huge product. We will need wider territory to expand and sell it effectively.”
My father considered it again, weighing the risks and rewards, then nodded in approval.
“If you believe he will be a good ally, then sign the deal,” he stated decisively before asking, “When do you think the product will hit the streets?”
“After Thanksgiving.”
“Good. Let’s make more money, son. More and more.” He said it with that familiar glint of ambition in his eyes, and I nodded, offering him a brief, genuine smile.
He patted my arm firmly, a rare gesture of pride and affection, then walked away, his men flanking him immediately and following at once.
I sighed at his departure and walked over to settle my hands on the balcony railing, gazing out as I thought about the possibilities, the hell that would inevitably break loose once the drugs started selling on a larger scale.
Feroz. He will definitely recognize his product and I wouldn’t be able to hide for long before
the war broke out.
It would be very bloody, no doubt, but before moving forward… I had to see him. Meet them. My rogue family.

My car stopped right before the massive, imposing building that had been bought and signed in the name of Marlik Rogue.
For what seemed like an eternity, I only sat behind the wheel, staring ahead into blankness, gathering my resolve.
The last time I saw Marlik, we had been at each other’s throats, snapping and clashing fiercely. I had spoken harsh words. Truthful, but cutting all the same, and now I would be facing him again.
The last time I met him, he had been in chains, powerless. Now he wasn’t.
Swallowing hard, I opened the car door and alighted. I made my way inside silently, cautiously.
The front door opened as I approached, tended by Ramin, the butler, who bowed deeply when he saw me.
I walked further in, slow and deliberate, only to freeze in my steps. Mother stood ahead in the grand foyer, waiting patiently.
She must have seen me drive in through the windows, and now she stood in the middle of the spacious living room, staring at me quietly and steadily until she took a step forward to embrace me in a warm hug.
I held her close, tenderly, respectfully, and pulled back slightly to kiss her hands reverently, searching her eyes without needing words.
Those beautiful eyes of hers were already misty with tears, and she sniffed, her body trembling faintly as she tried to hold them back.
Just then, I felt a subtle shift in the air from above. I looked up at the upper-floor balcony to see Yasmin staring down from there, her expression unreadable.
“Come down, Yasmin. Come pay your greetings to your brother,” Mother cajoled gently, and I watched as Yasmin moved, descending the steps quietly and carefully until she appeared at the foot of the staircase, looking at me from there as though ashamed, almost embarrassed, or perhaps carrying something even deeper and more painful.
I swallowed again, walking toward her slowly to cup her face with one palm and kiss her temple softly.
It was my silent way of reminding her that whatever hell she had passed through, no matter

the dirt the world had thrown on her or used against her, she would always be cherished by me as my sister, pure and loved in my eyes.
She lowered her gaze, unable to meet mine fully, and I sighed softly, pulling back to turn toward Mother, who took my hand at once.
I went silent for a long moment, my heart lodged tight in my throat, before I finally dared to ask.
“Marlik… where is he?”
To this, she nodded solemnly and began leading me tenderly, choosing her path carefully.
Soon we stood at a large window that overlooked the private patio, where the swimming pool sparkled under the light and a small veranda extended invitingly.
At the veranda, Marlik sat alone on the bench, smoking in deep silence. Staring at him made me go slowly still inside.
He is free and carefree as always. He was that crazy bastard who didn’t give a single fuck about the world as long as his beloved ones were safe.
“He hasn’t been speaking to anyone, Jahan,” my mother said quietly, her voice laced with worry. “I don’t know what to do. He won’t even meet my gaze or pay attention to his sister.”
I looked at him still and nodded slowly. I already knew exactly what was wrong with him. Deep down, I understood. Gently, I turned to Mother.
“Mom, I’m hungry.”
The moment she heard that, her face brightened with purpose, and she asked eagerly,
“How about an early dinner, then?”
“Sounds perfect.”
With that, she kissed my hand warmly and rushed off, already growing accustomed to the new house and its rhythms.
I smiled faintly at her departure, loving how her natural beauty was radiating more and more now that some peace had returned.
I turned my focus back to the veranda to find Marlik’s eyes now fixed on the window, looking directly back at me with quiet intensity.

Of course, he must have heard me drive in, heard my voice echoing through the house. We needed to talk. Yes.
