My heart pounded wildly, a storm of panic and dark suspicions swirling inside me. I could sense the foul play as clearly as a shadow in sunlight.

The focus was supposed to be on Feroz, not Marlik, yet somehow Marlik was the one being lined up in the crosshairs.

Someone operating from the shadows was deliberately shifting attention, and I knew far too much to simply sit back and do nothing.

Feroz had twisted evidence before, turning an innocent man into a convicted murderer. If he was now redirecting scrutiny toward Marlik as a drug dealer, it meant a larger scheme was already in motion.

I flipped through the pages once more, desperate for anything I’d missed, when footsteps echoed in the hall. I froze.

The door opened, and Roc stepped in, hair disheveled from the scant sleep he’d managed.

He stopped short at the sight of the open file in my hands. A gentle frown creased his brow as he closed the distance and eased the folder from my grasp.

“Good morning,” I greeted softly.

He nodded in response, gathering the remaining papers. I knew I should stay silent, but the words tumbled out anyway.

“Roc… about the new case that’s opening…”

“I’m only assisting a friend from the Moon Tower.”

I went completely still. I knew exactly what that implied.

“So… the case will be handled under Werewolf Law?” My heart thudded harder as I asked.

He turned to meet my gaze, then nodded once.

“Thanks for finishing the reprints,” he murmured before walking out, leaving me stunned.

Slowly, I made my way back through the hall and into the guest room, collapsing onto the bed. Werewolf Law. Moon Tower. No, it couldn’t be.

I swallowed hard, reaching for my phone and biting my lower lip. I hesitated for a long moment, then gave in and dialed Cupid’s number. It rang… and rang. No answer.

After the ninth attempt, I gave up. Perhaps he simply didn’t want to talk to me.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I headed to the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for the day.

Once dressed in something comfortable, I left the room and went straight to the kitchen. It was morning, after all, and routine called whether I’m bleeding or not.

I prepared breakfast for the household and was midway through serving when Father emerged from his bedroom first.

He paused at the sight of me in my old familiar role, the one I’d held before marriage, and a soft smile tugged at his lips as he took his seat at the head of the table.

“Good morning, Dad,” I said with a bright grin. “Your special chef is on duty today.”

“Then it’s truly a lucky day,” he teased back, and I giggled.

It wasn’t long before Roc appeared, already dressed for the day. He bowed to Father and sat, reaching immediately for his spoon.

“I’m running late,” he murmured.

“New case?” Father asked.

“Yeah. Criminals never rest, do they?”

Before Father could reply, Eshan and Kashi entered almost in sync. I watched them settle into their seats.

I’d lived with them my whole life, so telling the twins apart was second nature, yet their identical looks and mirrored movements still amazed me sometimes. It was almost uncanny.

“Hmm, you cook well,” Kashi said with a nod of approval. I grinned and slid into a chair myself, ready to cat, when approaching footsteps announced another arrival. For a moment, I’d almost forgotten she was back.

Viviana appeared, dressed impeccably and glowing with a beauty I hated admitting. She surveyed the dining room, bowed her head in greeting, and Father smiled warmly.

“How did you sleep?”

“Fine, thank you, Dad,” she replied politely, then turned to Roc. “Um.. I’m really sorry about last night. I didn’t mean to be rude or spill tea on your work.”

Silence settled briefly, Father, unaware of the midnight incident, looked puzzled, but Roc merely nodded over his shoulder, voice weary,

“It’s fine.”

I focused on my plate as her voice rang out again, excited, almost triumphant.

“Guess what, everyone!” I paused mid-bite, pretending indifference. “I just got an email from Godlike Legal Empire!”

I stiffened instantly, Godlike Legal Empire? For what?

“As a model,” she clarified, as if reading my thoughts. My face drained of color.

Cupid Godlike was the face of the men’s brand. Did this mean Viviana would become the women’s?

“How were you chosen so fast? You only just returned,” Eshan asked. I swallowed hard, waiting for her answer.

“I submitted my application yesterday, I was lucky I even met Cupid Godlike in person. We discussed. The CEO, Yenda, his brother said he’d stay in touch, and he did. I saw the email this morning inviting me to discuss terms and conditions. What do you think? Should I bring a lawyer?”

Tense silence blanketed the table. I shifted uncomfortably, heart pounding, bile rising at the thought, the reality that Cupid had spoken to her. Why?

“Maybe go today to discuss the terms,” Kashi suggested quietly. “See if they actually select you.”

“Yeah,” Eshan added. “Pinky applied once for the women’s brand at Godlike and got rejected flat. It’s an elite position. They don’t hire just anyone, let alone a newcomer

“I’m actually a supermodel, Eshan,” she murmured lightly. “And I’m confident I’ll get it. Working alongside Cupid would be amazing, right… right, Snow?”

I froze as every gaze turned to me. Slowly, I lifted my eyes to hers. She smiled sweetly.

“What do you think about me working with Cupid? You’re coordinating the charity with him. after all. Any thoughts on…”

“Nothing,” I cut in, surprised at how steady my voice sounded despite the storm inside. I met

her gaze and mirrored her deceptive smile. “In fact, I’d advise against it. He’s a very hard man to please.”

“Well, that wasn’t my impression yesterday when we spoke,” she replied smoothly. I held steady as she smiled wider, noting my reaction. “Surprised? Did you think he wouldn’t talk to me?”

“No,” I said quietly. “He’s not the type to chat easily with strangers. Yesterday, you were one to him. Cupid would stare, assess, stay silent… then walk away, leaving you unsettled and small. I don’t know what your first encounter was like, but that was mine.”

“Cupid? Cupid!”

I jolted awake, blinking rapidly as Desmond’s face hovered close to mine, his hair tousled from sleep.

“Your phone’s ringing,” he muttered.

I groaned, rolling off the bed and shuffling sluggishly to the couch where the device buzzed insistently. I flopped down and answered with a sleepy rumble.

“Hello?”

Silence greeted me. Deep, heavy silence that made me frown. I pulled the phone away to check the screen.

Snow.

The last traces of sleep vanished in an instant. I hadn’t called her, hadn’t even replied to her texts in a while. And now she was on the line… saying nothing.

Why?

“Snow?” I called softly.

Another heartbeat of quiet, then the call cut off abruptly.

Surprise rippled through me. I sighed, staring at the darkened screen, wondering what had possessed her to ring and then hang up without a word, when the unread message notifications caught my eye.

I tapped them open. Snow’s texts, sent in the dead of night, one after another… all unmistakably flirtatious.

“Is she… in heat?” I muttered to myself, confusion mounting as I scrolled.

‘I miss you, Cupid.’

That one was simple enough. Eleven minutes later she sent.

‘I miss you so much, baby… especially the way you taste.’

Seven minutes later.

‘I can’t stop thinking about your mouth on mine. Meet me tomorrow? I need those lips all over me again… starting slow and ending filthy.’

Five minutes later.

‘When are you going to fuck me properly again? I’m soaked just remembering how deep you go. We really should be doing this every single day.’

In two minutes.

‘Next time, I want you to bend me over the second we’re alone. No talking, no teasing, just raw, hard fucking until I can’t walk straight.’

And finally.

‘Why aren’t you answering? You’re making my pussy ache even more… don’t make me hate you for leaving me this desperate.’

I raked my fingers through my hair, utterly baffled. What had gotten into her?

Desmond’s phone rang then, cutting through the quiet. He groaned, pushed himself up, and answered. After a brief exchange, he turned to me slowly. I raised a brow, already sensing more trouble.

“I’ll let him know. Thanks,” he said into the receiver before hanging up. He met my gaze. “New perfume line launching. Yenda’s scheduled you for a full campaign and advert.”

I froze.

“What?”

“An advert shoot,” he repeated.

I stared at him as if he’d lost his mind.

“An advert? When the new fine dust is about to flood the streets and the red carpet’s tomorrow night? You think I have time to play pretty for the cameras?”

Desmond sighed, the lingering haze from last night’s cocaine slowly wearing off. I could feel it fading in me too.

“I don’t know, boss. It’s Yenda’s direct order and Uncle said you’re to follow his lead.”

Desmond’s eyes widened slightly at my tone. I wasn’t backing down. He fell back onto the bed with an exhausted sigh.

Being a model was one role, one I accepted. Coordinating the charity event was another, forced on me, but I understood the necessity. Running the illegal empire? That was the core of

who I was.

Of the three, the mafia always came first. We had everything timed perfectly and tonight I was supposed o be deep in the underworld, signing off the cocaine batches set to hit the streets right after Thanksgiving but I’d be getting ready for the red carpet.

And now Yenda wanted to waste my time on some frivolous perfume campaign? Absolutely

not.

The car rolled to a stop in front of Father’s company. Desmond and I climbed out, neither of us thrilled to be here, but it had to be done.

I strode straight to Yenda’s office, bypassing the secretary’s desk entirely. I pushed the door open and stepped inside.

I froze mid-stride. Desmond and I had just walked in on Yenda mid-act with his personal assistant on her knees beneath the desk, mouth wrapped around him.

At our sudden entrance, she pulled away hastily. Yenda’s face flashed shock before he scrambled to adjust his trousers and compose himself.

The assistant bowed frantically and hurried out, face flushed crimson. I watched her disappear before turning back to my brother.

My jaw tightened. He jutted his chin defiantly, pretending nothing had happened.

“You must have heard about the new campaign,” he said coolly. “Get ready. Contact your modeling team so they can…”

“I’m not shooting any advert until next year,” I cut in flatly, eyes locked on his. “Cancel it.”

He scoffed, clearly relishing the pushback.

“Father explicitly said you obey me. Since you suddenly have so much free time, away from your bloody mafia errands to play master of Godlike’s legal finances, you can spare a day for a perfume shoot before the year ends.”

Silence crackled between us. He was still bitter about Father’s decision on the finances. I could

taste it.

I nodded slowly, then glanced at Desmond over my shoulder.

“Call Father. Tell him Yenda’s getting his cock sucked by his personal assistant in the office.”

Desmond pulled out his phone without hesitation and began dialing. Tension spiked. Yenda went rigid, calculating.

The door eased open then, and the secretary peeked in.

“Sir, Miss Viviana Mooncrest is here…”

Before she could finish, the door swung wider, and Viviana stepped in, dressed far too elaborately for a simple meeting. She wasn’t the focus right now, though. I was waiting for Yenda to fold.

“Uh…” he cleared his throat, reading the room perfectly. “Ah, perfect timing.” He forced a smile toward Viviana. “Actually… the advert shoot won’t happen this year. We’re postponing it to next year.”

He turned to me with a tight nod, barely containing his fury.

I held his glare a moment longer, then turned and walked out. Desmond followed instantly. We headed back toward the car.

“Your designer’s blowing up my phone about tomorrow’s red carpet,” he said behind me.

I nodded wearily.

We were almost at the car when Viviana suddenly burst out of the building and planted herself in front of me. The abruptness caught me off guard.

“You’re not doing the advert now?” she asked, eyes searching mine. “Why?”

I studied her briefly. My wolf stirred uneasily. Something about her never sat right. I glanced at Desmond; he caught the silent cue and stepped forward, sliding into professional mode to handle her as my assistant while I climbed into the car and settled behind the wheel.

My gaze dropped to my phone. With a low swallow, I dialed Snow’s number.

It

rang… and

rang.

No answer.
