Desmond pulled the car to a smooth stop in front of Luna Sash’s estate, the engine ticking down into silence.

We both exhaled at the same time. Long, tired breaths that carried the weight of the night. We were supposed to go straight home. Father’s call had changed that.

He wanted Almira back.

We stepped out into the crisp night air. The house was quiet, almost unnaturally so.

Only the faint glow of interior lights and the occasional shadow of domestic staff moving behind curtains. No sign of the polished male boots I’d noticed last night.

They were gone. But Almira’s scent drifted down clearly from the second–floor bedroom. Sweet, familiar, laced with something softer tonight. Laughter, maybe. Contentment.

“She’s probably in her room,” Desmond said quietly.

I nodded.

We headed inside. The foyer was empty, the staff moving like respectful ghosts, heads bowed, voices low only when necessary.

I climbed the stairs alone, heart picking up speed with every step. I didn’t knock. I simply pushed the door open.

And froze.

Beta Sky stood at the far window with Luna Sash. His palm rested possessively on her waist, casual, intimate, like it belonged there.

They were gazing out over the moonlit yard together, shoulders touching. Almira stood a few paces away, giggling softly at something they’d said, her hands clasped behind her back.

For one suspended heartbeat, they looked like a perfect, private family. Warm, complete, untouched by the chaos of the Godlike

Something hot and jagged flared in my chest.

I stepped inside.

They turned at the sound.

Almira’s laughter died the instant she saw me. On any other night she would have flown across the room into my arms. Tonight she just stood there, blank–eyed, motionless, like a doll someone had posed and forgotten to wind.

“You didn’t inform anyone you’d be here,” Beta Sky said, voice smooth, almost amused.

I ignored him.

I crossed the room in three strides, took Almira gently but firmly by the shoulders, and pulled her away from him, positioning my body between them.

Chapter 254

“Dad wants you home,” I told her, voice low.

She slipped out of my grasp quiet, deliberate.

“I already told him I’m staying for a few days.” Her tone was flat, almost polite. “Can’t I have any free space anymore?”

Beta Sky tilted his head. “Well, it’s what the girl wants. How about you let her stay?”

“It’s an order from the godfather,” I said, eyes locked on him.

He squared his shoulders, small challenge in the lift of his chin.

Luna Sash stepped in. Her hair loose, robe loosely tied, expression already stormy.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, voice sharp.

“To take your daughter away, Sashimi,” Beta Sky answered before I could. “It’s your husband’s order.”

A low growl rumbled from Luna Sash’s throat.

I turned to watch her face.

Tonight she looked different. Transformed. The quiet, resigned elegance was gone. In its place was something fierce, fed up, done. As if She had finally reached the end of whatever rope she’d been clinging to with Alpha Ruis.

“Tell Ruis Almira is staying with me for a few days,” she said, voice like steel wrapped in silk. “Maybe it’s time we drag ourselves to court for custody.”

I stood speechless for a long moment.

“I’ll inform him of what you said,” I managed finally.

She shrugged, openly daring me to try.

“Once Ruis dies…” Her smile was small, cold, lethal. “Be prepared to lose every bond you ever had with Godlike.”

She reached for Almira’s hand.

Together they walked out. Almira not even glancing back.

I watched their retreating backs, chest tight, fists clenched.

I’d forgotten Beta Sky was still there until his hand landed on my shoulder casual, almost friendly.

“Cupid,” he said, voice low and amused. “You’re so loyal. When will you stop being Ruis’s errand boy?” He laughed like it was a harmless joke. “That man doesn’t love you Don’t you know?”

The words settled uncomfortable, sharp but I didn’t reply

I headed for the door.

His voice followed quietly, easy, as though asking about the weather.

“Those drugs you acquired from Feroz… how much do you think they’re worth?”

Chapter 254

I stopped in the doorway. Turned slowly.

He smiled, shrugged.

“From the image Ruis sent, they look like… a lot. Billions, maybe? Trillions?”

“You’ll know when we make the estimate,” I said flatly.

I walked out, pulled my phone, dialed Father.

Outside on the porch I waited for the call to connect. When he answered, his voice came first calm, resigned.

“You can leave her there, Cupid. I’ve talked to her mother.”

I sighed, relief and frustration tangling together and nodded even though he couldn’t see it.

“Understood.”

I disconnected.

Desmond joined me a moment later. We got back into the car without another word.

The drive back to Godlike pack stretched long and restless.

I couldn’t settle.

The discomfort gnawed, unplaceable, relentless.

Was it Almira, her blank stare, her refusal to come with me?

Luna Sash’s open threat?

Beta Sky’s too–easy familiarity, his casual hand on her waist, his probing questions about the drugs?

Or was it Snow, somewhere out there, carrying the recorder, walking into a lion’s den I couldn’t follow her into yet?

The car finally rolled through the gates of Godlike pack.

I alighted, tired down to my bones, ready to crash into bed and let sleep erase the night.

Desmond headed inside.

I made my way toward Father’s quarters, first the study. Empty. Papers neatly stacked on the desk, no sign of disturbance.

I closed the door quietly and continued down the hall to his bedroom.

I arrived just in time to see him swallow the last of a herbal tea, setting the glass aside as he prepared for sleep.

I pushed the door open wider.

He looked up, eyes softening when he saw me.
