We stared at one another for a heart–stopping second. Rosella’s eyes dark, expectant, lips slightly parted like she was waiting for me to crack first. I turned away without a word and started to bypass her.
Her voice stopped me cold.
“Can you help me fix something in my bedroom?”
I paused.
Turned slowly.
She stood there, robe slipping off one shoulder, gaze locked on mine, innocent on the surface, anything but underneath.
“Please?” she added, softer, almost pleading.
I nodded, giving in against every instinct and followed her down the hall.
The Beta wing was tidy, almost sterile. Lonely. Five years of absence still clung to the air like dust; the place was only now starting to feel lived–in again. Her bedroom door was already ajar. I stepped inside.
She pointed to the wall sconce, newly ripped from its mount, wires dangling like someone had torn it down in a fit of frustration. Or staged it.
It looked deliberate.
I ignored the obvious trap and got to work. Screwdriver from the drawer, a few quick turns, re–securing the fixture. Five minutes later I dusted my palms and turned to leave.
She was standing at the closed door, back against it, robe now fully open at the front, revealing lace and skin.
“Maybe you’d like some warm tea?” Her voice had dropped low, sultry, dripping with invitation.
I shook my head. Not in the mood. Not even close.
She sighed, dramatic, disappointed and pushed away from the door. Crossed to me slowly. Placed her palm flat on my chest.
Right where Snow’s hand always rested.
hated it instantly,
This spot was hers. No one else’s.
caught her wrist, firm, not cruel and pulled her hand away.
‘I should go.”
I stepped toward the door.
‘Why did you change?” she asked behind me.

I paused, confused and turned.
She stepped closer, eyes searching mine.

“You changed, Cupid. You used to be a man who’d take anything in a skirt. Thrust into any hole. Cum and walk away satisfied. Now you’re acting like some saint. Loyal. Untouched.” She tilted her head. “Don’t tell me you’re saving yourself for just one woman.”
The words struck like a blade between ribs.
She was right.
Ever since I’d first thrust into Snow, deep, claiming, complete, no other woman had interested me. Not even a flicker. The thought of touching anyone else felt wrong. Dirty. Like betrayal.
Rosella saw the truth flash across my face.
She smiled, slow, victorious.
“You are mine, Cupid. You have no idea how long I’ve waited to come back into your arms and…”
She leaned in to kiss me.
I turned my head at the last second. Her lips grazed my cheek instead.
She froze, then gritted her teeth.
“You have a woman in mind?”
I didn’t answer.
She exhaled shakily, jaw tight.
“You won’t dare, Cupid Godlike. We’re betrothed.”
“I never proposed to you.” My voice was quiet, final. “The announcement our parents made doesn’t count. Don’t waste your time on a man like me. I won’t give you happiness.”
Silence crashed between us. Very sharp, final.
I walked out.
Headed straight for Desmond’s apartment. I Pushed the door open.
Dropped onto the couch, trying to breathe, to settle, to think.
Restlessness clawed through me, veins buzzing, skin too tight. I couldn’t pinpoint why.
Almira? Luna Sash’s threat? Beta Sky’s probing questions about the drugs? Or Snow?
I leaned back, closed my eyes.
My wolf stirred.
Then surged.

With an ethereal leap he ripped free, manifesting in front of me in a blaze of green fire and midnight fur. A single stripe ran from between his ears down his spine, marking him as a Rogue.
He stood there massive, powerful, eyes blazing like twin emeralds.
The air went still. Then glass shattered.
I turned.
Desmond stood frozen in the doorway to his bedroom, coffee mug in pieces at his feet, eyes wide on my wolf, then on me.
“Why are you separated?” he asked, voice tight with concern. “Are you okay?”
I nodded tired, unsettled, my gaze locked on my spirit wolf.
He was the one who was restless.
Not my human side.
Why?
“She is not for him,” my wolf said, voice deep, sacred, authoritative, echoing inside my skull and in the room at once. “She is mine.
Ours.”
I froze.
Not for him?
She?
I lunged for my phone in an instant, fingers shaking as I open the tracking app I’d installed on Snow’s device last night.
The location pin glowed red.
Ares Bani Mansion.
Cold flooded me, ice in my veins, terror in my throat.
Why was she there?
I didn’t wait for reason.
I sprang up, my wolf surging back into me in a rush of power and shadow, merging seamlessly. The shift was instantaneous, effortless.
I exploded out of Desmond’s apartment, leaping into the night, air whooshing past as I vanished into thin air, streaking toward Ares’s mansion like a bullet made of fury and fear.
