He arrived smelling like sex. The stench clung to him, thick and raw.

When the door opened, I pretended to be asleep. He stepped in and paused.

I could feel his eyes on my face studying me, waiting, maybe checking if I’d wake. Then he sighed, long and careless, and walked into the bathroom to shower.

It dug deep into my chest. His actions, his indifference, the fact that he still keeps doing it, no regard, no guilt, no shame.

My cellphone buzzed. I fluttered my eyes open and slowly reached for it.

A text from Lencia.

She’d gotten his signature on the divorce papers. She wanted to know when we would meet so she could deliver them.

Staring at the message, the heaviness in my heart suddenly loosened. A small smile broke across my face.

At last.

I should inform Kashi immediately.

I rose from the bed just as the bathroom door opened. Ares stepped out, towel wrapped low around his waist, and I froze.

Neither of us spoke for a heartbeat, one long, suffocating second.

He thought I was asleep and I… I thought the sight of him would thrill me the way it used to.

In the past, I would get lost staring at that broad chest, that sculpted torso, the outline of his

dick beneath the towel.

But now, it made my stomach twist with nausea.

I looked

away without a word and walked out, phone in hand, dialing my brother.

Kashi answered almost instantly, his voice warm and tired.

“Kashi,” I greeted softly. “Did I wake you?”

He sighed, groaning lightly.

“Not really, I’m working. My back hurts. You okay?”

“Yes,” I exhaled, descending the stairs slowly. “I want to tell you about the divorce papers. He signed them.”

“Really?” His voice sharpened. “Then we have the upper hand. Do you have any witness yet? Someone who can testify to his infidelity?”

My pace slowed. I shook my head even though he couldn’t see.

“Not yet.”

“You need a witness, Snow. With that, We’ll be able to pressure him in court and get him pinned. He won’t have any choice but to leave you out of all this. Let me have the papers, dear. I’ll take it from here. Okay?”

My heart warmed at his steady tone.

“Okay, Kashi. I’ll bring them to you soon. Thank you. I love you.”

“Love you too. And make sure that motherfu…” he paused, catching himself. “Make sure Ares Bani doesn’t lay a hand on you. He’s trash.”

I smiled sadly. I already knew that.

He hung up, and I exhaled in relief.

It’s coming to an end. My peace is close.

Arriving at Frost Law Firm after four years stirred emotions I didn’t expect.

Standing before Kashi’s office door that morning, I hesitated. I reached to knock, but stopped halfway.

It felt like I was only coming now because I needed something.

Like I was taking advantage. Maybe I should leave.

I turned around and froze.

Kashi stood behind me, documents in hand, watching me quietly.

He must have seen everything, the hesitation, the guilt, the

regret.

His grey eyes, so much like Eshan’s, lingered on me before he stepped past and opened his office door, walking in without a word.

He left it open for me.

His office was neat, though his desk overflowed with cases and pending files. He set the document he carried on the desk, then looked at me.

“Eshan told me you’re working at H.O.W.L.”

“Yes. But I still need the director’s signature before I can get my badge.”

“You won’t have a problem. The director will be our father–in–law soon,” he murmured, stepping closer.

He studied me for a moment before taking my wrist and guiding me to the meeting corner. We both sat.

Kashi my brother, my confidante. That made today harder. I had ignored his advice years ago, and now here I was, needing help.

“Let me have the divorce papers,” he said.

I opened my bag and handed him the documents I’d gotten from Lencia earlier this morning.

He sifted through them, flipping pages, scanning quickly.

A smirk tugged at his lips.

“I can’t wait to see the look on that crazy man’s face.’

He glanced at me, then the smirk softened, replaced by a gentle smile.

“I’ll send it to court. He’ll be summoned soon. Brace yourself, dear.”

I nodded. I was ready for whatever Ares brought.

I looked at Kashi for a long moment, then lowered my gaze and sighed.

“Kashi… I’m sorry. I feel ashamed coming here like this, after being a bad sister.”

He let me speak fully before responding. Then he smiled, slow and warm.

“You’ll pay me back someday, won’t you?”

He only said it to ease my guilt, and it worked.

I smiled and nodded.

“You have my word.”

He chuckled softly and reached up to caress my cheek. His phone buzzed, and he groaned.

“Work. I need to get

back.”

“As you should. Don’t let me distract you. I’ll leave now.”

He paused, brows lifting.

“Why don’t you come back home, Snow?”

Before I could answer, his phone buzzed again. His jaw tightened. Then came a knock sharp and urgent, and his assistant rushed in.

“Sir, you have a court session this morning. We’re already late.”

Kashi rolled his eyes. I rose quickly, offering him a smile.

He had too much going on already; giving me his time was more than enough.

He stood with me and leaned to kiss my forehead.

“Go on. I love you.”

I smiled sweetly and left the office, passing his assistant on the way out.

The burden in my chest eased.

Kashi’s assurance that the divorce would go through settled something inside me.

I reached my car, opened the door, and sat down.

My phone rang immediately.

I checked the screen and my heart jumped to my throat.
