Chapter 295
Snowflakes
By the time I arrived back at H.O.W.L. under the deepening evening sky, the crowd had doubled in front of the building.

Reporters, protesters, curious onlookers, all pressed against the barricades. Cameras flashed like lightning as I stepped out of the taxi.
I kept my head down and pushed forward, ignoring the shouted questions that blurred into white noise.
From the edge of the barricade, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
“Snow? Miss Snow!”
I turned slightly. Tally V stood there clutching her bag to her chest, eyes red–rimmed and desperate. The guards had their arms out, blocking the surge, but she looked like she might try to climb over them.
“Let her through,” I said quietly.
The guards hesitated then parted just enough.
Tally V rushed forward, nearly stumbling.
“In few weeks time… my sister will be hanged, Miss Snow.” Her voice cracked. “You have to help me. I beg you. I came with her kids to beg of you.”
She pointed behind her. The two small children and a taller teenage one from the house the other day stood a few paces back, wide–eyed, clinging to each other, staring at me with that heartbreaking, silent plea that burned straight through my chest.
I lowered my gaze for a second, exhaling shakily. Then I reached out and took Tally V’s trembling hand. Cameras clicked relentlessly around us.
“I can’t promise anything yet,” I said softly, “but now I give you my word. Go home. Stay quiet. I’ll keep in touch.”
She nodded, tears spilling over and stepped back, gathering the children close.
I turned and hurried inside.
The lobby was quieter, but the tension followed me up the elevator. When the doors opened on our floor, I stepped out just in time to see Eshan glaring down at Vast, anger rolling off him in waves.
“I told you to make an arrest,” Eshan snapped. “Have the cops drag her here if she dares resist.”
“She’s complying,” Vast replied, voice tight. “She promised to be here soon.”
I frowned, stepping further into the room, confused about who they were talking about.
Before I could ask, the energy in the entire holding area shifted. Sharp, unmistakable.
I’d lived with the Frost twins most of my life. I knew the exact moment one of them entered a building. The air changed. The pressure changed.

Chapter 295
I turned toward the corridor.
My heart leapt then plummeted.
Kashi.

And beside him… Viviana.
“Why is he here with her?” Quince muttered, appearing at my side.
I couldn’t answer. My voice was gone.
I watched them step into the elevator. Kashi’s posture straight and protective, Viviana’s head high but eyes shadowed. The doors slid shut.
Eshan emerged from the office, joined me at the corridor railing, and a small, dangerous smile curled the corner of his mouth.
“Good,” he murmured. “I love this.”
He peeled away, heading straight for the interrogation room.
Quince and I shared one heart–stopping look before we bolted for the observation room.
We arrived just as Viviana settled into the chair. Kashi stood behind her arms crossed, expression unreadable.
My own brother… standing as her lawyer?
The door opened again. Eshan walked in. He crossed the room without hurry, sank into the chair across from Viviana.
Silence stretched thickly, wrenching. I hated it. The Frost brothers facing off like this, on opposite sides of the table, on opposite sides of everything.
“I didn’t know you’d hire a lawyer on such short notice,” Eshan said calmly. “Feels like you’ve been expecting a summons from
H.O.W.L.”
Viviana swallowed. A flicker of sadness crossed her face, carefully placed, almost theatrical.
“Where were you on the night of the Dark Alley case?”
The question landed like a stone in still water.
I waited, breath held, for her answer.
Kashi spoke instead quietly, firm.
“Home.”
Eshan slowly lifted his gaze to his twin.
Tension crackled between them, electric, painful.
Eshan let out a short, disbelieving scoff.
“Shit’s happening here. I can’t believe I’m talking back to a crazy lawyer who has
my
face.”
