Chapter 386
Snowflakes
“That’s Sera,” I said to Cupid the moment the boat drew near the dock.
He immediately signaled his men with a sharp gesture, they concealed their weapons in an instant.

We all stepped out acting as naturally as possible, calm, unhurried. I hurried toward Sera. She grabbed my hand the second t reached her, eyes frantically scanning me for any sign of injury.
“I’m fine,” I assured her quickly, trying to ease the worry carving lines into her face.
“And Almira?” she asked, voice tight.
Before I could answer, Cupid approached with Almira at his side, her small hand tucked securely in his.
I exhaled shakily and turned to her.
“You have to go with Sera. She’ll examine you for any signs of assault and take your official statement to clear your brother’s name.”
In response, Almira looked up at Cupid. He cupped her cheek gently, thumb brushing away an invisible tear.
“It’s fine,” he murmured. “You should go with her. You can trust her.”
Almira didn’t budge at first. She covered his hand with her own, then threw her arms around him in a fierce, clinging hug. When she finally pulled back, resolve had hardened in her young eyes.
“I’m never going back to the Godlike Pack,” she declared softly but firmly. “I’m not leaving your side, Cupid.”
He pressed a tender kiss to her temple. We watched in silence as she walked to Sera, who guided her gently toward the waiting car.
Sera returned to me a moment later and let out a soft, heavy sigh, as though the words she had to say weighed on her heart like lead.
“Snow… your brother Eshan wants you to return. Now that you’ve found the evidence.”
I nodded, but her troubled expression made me frown.
“What’s wrong, Sera?”
“It’s… it’s Feroz again.”
The name alone turned my blood to ice. I went completely still.
“He’s been lying low since you confronted him at the hospital,” she continued quietly. “But this morning his ward was empty. The silver cuffs that bound his wrist were shattered, broken clean through. We have no idea where he is now, and we’re terrified he’s coming for you.”
Hearing those words, I slowly turned to Cupid, then back to Sera. Fear coiled tight in my chest.
“If Feroz has escaped, it makes no sense for me to ride with you,” I said, voice steadier than I felt. “If he’s after me, it’ll put you

Sera’s eyes flicked uneasily to the blood staining Cupid’s clothes, but she nodded. With one last worried glance, she walked back to her car and drove off.
The moment they disappeared, I whirled to face Cupid.
“Where do you think Feroz will go this time? Surely not to the hospital to meet Marlik?”
He shook his head slowly. “Call the hospital.”
I yanked my phone from my pocket and dialed with trembling fingers. A woman answered after a few rings.
“Miss Snow.”
“Yes please, can you put Marlik on the line?”
“Oh… um, earlier this morning some men came to escort him out.”
My entire body stiffened. “By force?”
“Of course not. In fact, he was smiling with them.”
My heart plummeted. No. He must have been threatened, forced to fake that smile. Gripping the phone so hard my knuckles whitened, I asked in a hushed voice, “How are Mother and Yasmin?”
“Fine. They’re recovering in their wards.”
Relief shuddered through me, shaky and thin. I murmured goodbyes and disconnected. When I turned to Cupid, he had heard every word. His jaw was set in a hard, dangerous line.
“There’s only one place he’d want Marlik to take him,” he said quietly. “The underworld.”
Desmond stepped closer, staring at Cupid in stunned awe. “Marlik doesn’t know the route to the underworld.”
“Of course he does,” Cupid murmured. “I took him there once. I also told Feroz his drugs were stored in the underworld. He must have gone there with Marlik because he knows exactly how close Marlik and I are now.”
“We have to hurry then,” Desmond said urgently. “If our men see him with Marlik, they won’t dare hurt him. They know what Marlik means to you.”
Cupid strode straight to his car. The Gafi gang piled into theirs. I slid into the passenger seat beside him. He peeled out immediately, tires screeching, the other vehicles falling in behind us.
The sky had brightened into full morning, but my heart lodged in my throat at every mention of the underworld.
