Sunlight poured through the window, warm and golden, spilling across my face. I fluttered my eyelids open, and my breath caught. in a heart–stopping second.
My eyes scanned the familiar bedroom. I was back home. In my own bed. A soft sigh escaped me, followed by a quiet, genuine smile. The memories of yesterday flooded in all at once.
Yenda was dead. Feroz had met a horrifying end. Doctor Catina too. Swallowing hard, I lay there, staring at the ceiling. And unconsciously, I smiled again.
I was happy. Truly, deeply happy for the first time in years.
When Feroz had been captured, charged, and sentenced to death, I’d felt restless, sad, unsatisfied, hollow.
But now, remembering the helpless terror in his eyes at the very end, a quiet contentment settled in my chest. He hadn’t been happy. He hadn’t gotten what he wanted. That was the sweetest revenge.
Cupid had made it happen.
How much I loved that man.
I must have fallen asleep in the car after we left H.O.W.L.
Where was he now?
I pushed myself up, reaching for the duvet to pull it aside then froze. Ice slid through my veins.
A ring encircled my finger.
I sat motionless for what felt like an eternity, staring at it. Slowly, I blinked. Tears had already stung my eyes without me noticing. I swiped them away and rose from the bed.
The house was empty. Silent. Just me.
Sighing shakily, I walked back to the bedroom, grabbed my cellphone, and held my breath for another endless second before dialing his contact.
Cupid.
He answered after a moment, voice gentle as ever.
“You’re awake.”
I blinked, trying to steady myself but failing completely.
“Y…yeah.” Silence stretched between us. “Where are you?”
“At the Moon Tower. Getting the Godlike name officially removed and reclaiming the properties Alpha Ruis tried to seize. I’m thinking of not dropping ‘Cupid‘ since almost everyone knows me by that name now anyway.”

I sniffed, nodding even though he couldn’t see.
“Yeah. I guess so.”
Another quiet pause. Then his voice came softer, almost hesitant.

“Snow… if I take off the Godlike name, I’ll go back to being rogue. Our pups… they’ll bear the name Rogue. Do you think…”
“I love it,” I cut in quickly, fiercely. “Rogue isn’t the filth people make it out to be. It just means werewolves without a pack. I don’t care if you’re an omega, an alpha, or rogue. You’re Cupid, and…”
I stopped, swallowing the lump in my throat.
He asked then, so quietly, so tenderly it nearly undid me.
“Will you marry me?”
Tears spilled freely now. Over the phone, he had proposed but the tenderness lingered, bridging the distance between us. I had known all along he was the one.
“I will marry you, Cupid,” I murmured, sniffing. “I will be your wife. Lawfully wedded wife.”
“Don’t cry now,” he said softly. “You want me to stop everything and rush over?”
I dabbed my tears quickly.
“Don’t you dare. Finish what you need to. Come back when you’re done. Maybe I’ll make some food and we can meet at the hospital after. How about that?”
“Yeah. Sure. I should go now… love.”
I nodded silently and disconnected. My knees buckled. I flopped back onto the bed, staring at the ring again. A bright, unstoppable smile spread across my face.
Gently, I rose and strolled to the kitchen, humming a happy tune as I started breakfast. I turned, dancing lightly on my feet, feeling weightless for the first time in years.
Later, I wandered to the living room and switched on the TV. Every channel I flipped to was buzzing with the same story.
