“Yes. I am with a colleague and I will meet up with my brothers soon at the arena. I am absolutely fine.” I said, assuring my human father who let out a sigh before disconnecting.
I slip my phone into my bag and look ahead at the house before me, still seated beside Quinec in the car.
It’s already late morning after we finished securing the collaboration and final arrangements from Pinky’s agency and manager. We had also ensured paramount security.
In the background, the news is already airing. Mirena is speaking as the caster about the fan meeting of Pinky, which will be held for free tonight. I swallow at that. Tonight… we will put an end to everything.
Slowly, I turn to Quince who has taken the wheel. He had insisted on giving me a ride home since I haven’t slept even one wink, and I accepted his offer. Luckily for him, his apartment wasn’t far from H.O.W.L, so he had rushed home to clean up before coming back.
“Come in. I’ll ask Ana to make you tea while you wait,” I said softly as I alight, and he follows.
Together, we make our way into the hall. Ana, as usual, rushes to welcome me. She slows down when she sees Quince, but I offer her a soft smile.
“Good morning, Madam.”
“This is Quince, my colleague. Good morning,” I reply and walk into the living room. “Ana, make tea for Quince while I…”
I stop speaking the moment my eyes land on Ares at the dining area, eating his breakfast. At the sight of him, I stiffen, pausing mid–step.
He had called and called and called, but in the end, I turned off my cellphone. One look at him tells me he is just coming home this morning… and that he slept the night with Lencia, his mistress.
What is most disgusting is the fact that even when he wants to show care for me, speak softly to me, hold me gently… he still have his cock in and still warm from another woman’s cunt. I look away from him briefly, taking a simple breath.
“Ares, good morning,” I greet and start for the stairs but his voice cuts sharply.
“Nothing is good about the morning, Snow. Nothing!”
I pause in my tracks and turn, glaring him down.
“I have a guest. Let’s talk later,” I tell him, but he has already left the dining table and crossed the distance to
“Why didn’t you take my calls last night? Do you have any idea how much I was worried about you?” he asks, his voice dropping to a whisper. “You didn’t come home last night and didn’t tell me where you were. Do
you…

“I was at H.O.W.L, Ares,” I whisper tiredly, not wanting to argue. I am exhausted, and Quince is right here. “Please. Don’t start.”
He falls silent at that. I sigh softly and turn away, but he catches my wrist and pulls me toward him, his palm cupping my cheek as he searches my eyes. His expression is so believable, so concerned, so scared, so supportive.
“I heard your brother has been taken in for questioning. You don’t need to worry about that or shoulder the burden alone, Snow. You know I’m here for you. Every time, hmm?”
The silence between us stretches. I can feel Quince’s attention, even though he pretends to be fascinated by
the wall.
I nearly scoff at Ares’s face. He cares?
“Just like you did care four years ago, right?” I murmur quietly. The question rolls out before I can stop it. He swallows hard, caught off guard, before a soft smile touches his lips and he nods, hands tender on me.
“Just like four years ago. I’ll always be here. I know working at H.O.W.L. is depressing. How about you drop that job? I can get someone to fill in the charity coordinator position at F.A.A.R too. You can stay home and rest. Hmm, honey?”
His eyes, his tone, his gestures are too good, too kind, convincing enough that strangers would think I’m in the happiest marriage. But I have long known better. Ares likes me this way when I am vulnerable… broken…. caged.
I search his eyes and hate myself for loving him. For my energy not picking up the deception in him earlier.
I take a step back, creating a small distance.
“I hope you don’t mind that my colleague is here. We have a case ongoing and I just came to change my dress. I’ll be out soon. Thanks for the concern, Ares.” Then I glance at Ana at the dining. “Please make tea for my guest. Thank you.”
With that, I turn toward the stairs, making my way to our bedroom tiredly. These past few days have been overwhelming. I can’t wait to get everything over with tonight.
I push open the door and step inside, walking straight to the bed to drop my bag before heading toward the bathroom. I pass by Ares’s closet which was left slightly open.
My eyes catch the suit jacket he wore the previous night. I would have walked past it if not for the small sachet peeking out.
Curiosity pulls me closer. I reach for the pocket and a roll of condoms comes out in my hand.
My heart sinks.
Before I can react, a used condom slips from the pack and drops to the floor, startling me. The condom has been used, and the cum inside is still there. Fresh.
The sight makes me pale. The suit jacket reeks of women’s perfume and I already know whose.
Disgust curling through me, I leave the condom where it fell and head into the bathroom. I bathe. I brush my teeth. My mind numb.
Minutes later, I step into my closet to get dressed, turtleneck top, pant trousers. I grab my long jacket and

At the entrance, I halt abruptly when I see Ares. But before he can speak, I bypass him and walk outside.
Quince, seeing me approach, thanks Ana for the tea and stands.
Together, we head out.
“It’s going to be a long night,” he says, and I almost groan.
“Don’t remind me, Quince.”
