I was supposed to be home by now, but somehow I found myself at the grand hospital where Angelic Fash was admitted. Pinky had been a great model. She had gone ahead, making sure Angelic was taken to the best hospital.
After staring up at the building for a while, I walked slowly inside. Without a word, I made my way toward the block where Angelic’s ward was located, but the moment I reached the hall, I had to pause.
Mrs. Castle, Sera’s mother, was right before me, speaking quietly with Pinky. Then she looked up and saw me. At once, a bright smile broke across her face.
Mrs. Castle was in her lab coat, the head of the surgical department, and the owner of the largest share in Health G Hospital. She was Seraphine’s mother. I quickly bowed before her, and she walked up to me, smiling even brighter.
“Snowflakes Frost. This is you.”
“Mother.”
“I am still mad at you for many things,” she said, her voice turning lightly cold. I looked up at her, and she smiled again. “You didn’t come for your checkup here at Health G.”
Hearing that, I gulped. She was right. When Ares and I spoke about making kids, he handpicked the hospital and the doctor I met. As a Frost, I was supposed to come to Health G, our family hospital, the one we’ve used since childhood for everything.
The same one I have been rushed into and healed four years ago after I was raped.
I bowed my head again in apology, but she simply smiled and rubbed my arm.
“You should come see me one of these days, if you’re free. We’ll do a proper checkup on you. Okay?”
I wanted to tell her I was already healed, that I had gotten results from the doctor Ares recommended, but she had already bid Pinky goodbye and walked off.
“Angelic is recovering. Her father is with her now,” Pinky said tiredly as she walked up to me. “I heard they already found a donor for the kidney.”
Hearing that, I frowned.
“So soon?”

Before I could speak, the sound of footsteps came behind me, and Pinky immediately left my side, rushing into Eshan’s arms. He kissed her tenderly, hugging her fondly.
“You must be tired, hmm?” he asked her, and she nodded, leaning on him.
“Take me home. I want to be by your side tonight.”
To this, Eshan kissed her forehead and caressed her arm. Their display of affection almost made me jealous. If only I had someone who would look at me even half as lovingly as my brothers looked at their women. A man who would stay, truly support me, like their partners supported them.
Eshan looked up and was surprised to see me still standing there.
“You were supposed to go and prepare your luggage to be moved back home tomorrow,” he said in awe.
I swallowed and nodded.
“Yes… I’m sorry. I’ll go soon.”
“Let me see you do that. I won’t leave you here alone.”
“I’m fine, Eshan. Go on. Pinky is exhausted already.”
He sighed, hesitant, until I smiled convincingly. Then he nodded and walked out with her.
After they left, I was alone in the hall, staring at the path my brother had disappeared down. Their affection dug into my heart.
I had no one waiting for me. No one at all waiting for me at home.
Except perhaps a cheating husband.
I turned around to leave, but my eyes suddenly caught the door ahead opening. Brown Fash walked out, his face still pale from the shock of his daughter passing out. When he looked up and saw me, he froze.
“I have nothing to say to you all anymore,” he declared before I could speak when he recognized I am with H.O.W.L.
I nodded, understanding. I turned around to leave, but something tugged inside
my
chest.
Where did he get the money for his daughter’s kidney? So fast.

Finding a donor in such a short time meant someone poured a huge amount in and looking at him, he didn’t seem like a man with that kind of money. He was an ordinary night watchman.
Curiosity got the better of me. I turned around again and stared at him. He was looking at me too, almost like he expected the question.
“Where did you get the money for the kidney donor?” I asked softly, plainly.
Silence hung between us, and at last he replied, voice just as quiet.
“From a good Samaritan in black.”
His response sank into my chest, but I knew prodding him would be useless. The case was solved, and I needed to go home.
I said nothing more. I turned around, heading toward the exit and into my car.
Behind the wheel, I let out a heavy sigh and reached for my cellphone to see a message from my best friend, Dove, asking how I was feeling.
I had carried her along in everything except Cupid Godlike.
I am fine, Dove. Heading home now to rest. Good night.”
I replied, dropped my phone by the seat, and pulled out, riding toward Ares Mansion while Praying inwardly that he wouldn’t be home.
Because if he was, I wouldn’t hold back. I’d snap. I’d go crazy.
He crossed a line. Knowing about my rape and manipulating me to drop the case could be overlooked, but not when he dared try hurting one of my brothers.
I would destroy him before he could blink.
Maybe he underestimated me. Maybe he forgot that as much as I have wealth support, I also have connection support.
It only takes a few pieces of evidence placed right to sentence him to a jail he will never return from.
But I still had to tread carefully.
I just wanted to sleep. Nothing more.
I took a turn, my eyes on the blinking Christmas trees by the roadside and the lights wrapped around them. My heart lightened a bit until I caught sight of a man smoking by the sidewalk.
