The warm brush of sunlight urg
ed my eyes to flutter open, and I woke gently only to pause, unable to place where I was.
A massive bed. Silence. No one beside me.
I lifted the coverlet slowly and froze when I saw my bare skin. Naked. My heart leapt in confusion until the sight of the sofa snapped everything back.
Last night.
I went completely still.
It had been the wildest night of my life. Broken, depressed, lonely, I had gone to Cupid Godlike, and he had handed me addiction like sin. My skin prickled with goosebumps as I wondered where he went. Why wasn’t he here?
The sound of footsteps came. I snatched the coverlet tighter around me as the door opened gently.
A lady stepped in, housekeeper, probably. When she saw I was awake, she smiled politely and stopped a few steps from the bed with a graceful bow.
“Good morning, Ma’am. You’re awake. What would you like for breakfast? I already prepared your bath minutes ago.”
I blinked. What? Was this hotel service? Where was Cupid?
Heat flooded my face as the memories of last night rushed in. How desperate I had been, how crude. I swallowed.
“Where… where is Cupid?” I murmured before I could stop myself.
The lady looked confused. My cheeks burned hotter.
“I should have known he will only use me before coming here last night,” I muttered under my breath, frustrated with myself.
But the lady didn’t move. She simply waited for instructions, unfazed. I ignored her and slipped out of the bed, clutching the coverlet as I reached for my phone on the table. I turned it on.

“I’ll take my bath and…” I started, but my phone vibrated as the messages loaded.

One from Kashi, thanking me for my help and reminding me the divorce would be finalized this week, and to prepare the witness for Ares‘ infidelity.
One from my human father, thanking me.
One from Mirena, overflowing with love for saving the love of her life.
None from area and none from Cupid Godlike.
My face ignited, the phone nearly slipping from my hand. I swallowed hard as a wave of sadness, humiliation, sharp and dizzying rushed through me.
It seems he use me and then discarded me. As though… his controlling tone last night were all illusion in my head or perhaps him too have pretended to be lost in lust just to have his way with me, so he can fuck my mouth.
“Set the breakfast. I’ll take my bath,” I said softly, tears of helplessness brimming, and the lady nodded.
“I’ll bring your dresses.”

It was late morning when I arrived back at Ares Mansion.
I had given my body to another man and shared more with him in one night than many couples share in months. I was no longer fit to be Ares‘ wife and yet I wasn’t Cupid’s girl either.
I was ready to pack my belongings and face Ares in court, ready to leave this curse of a marriage behind.
I have taken a taxi home since Cupid is no where to be found and his man that brought me has also vanished.
When I walk into the hall, Ana rushed in immediately, startling me. I thought she was still on the short leave Ares gave her to avoid witnessing our fight last night.
“Madam… you are here,” she said softly. Her eyes looked troubled, her voice strained.
“Ana, are you okay?” I asked.
She lowered her gaze.

She began to move toward the kitchen, but I caught her wrist gently. She was lying. Something
was wrong.
“Ana. Tell me. Everything is okay?”
She searched my eyes, then nodded.
“Your child? Everything fine at home?” I pressed.
She nodded again. Relief loosened my chest. Maybe I misread her mood.
“You don’t need to make breakfast. I’m taking my luggage out today.”
“Is that why sir brought another woman home?”
Her words froze me mid–step. I turned slowly toward her in awe.
“When I arrived today,” Ana whispered, voice shaking, “I went up to prepare your bath… but there was another lady in your bed. With sir. Tangled in sheets. I didn’t know what to do.”
She was still speaking when a car eased into the driveway. Ana stepped aside immediately, not wanting to be caught in the storm.
I waited, my eyes fixed on the entrance.
A woman’s laughter drifted in. Even before she appeared, I knew.
Ares entered the living room, hand in hand with his secretary, Lencia. She stood confidently beside him, clutching a fresh pack of condoms in her hand. They must have gone out to restock.
She smirked at me, stepping forward like she’d won a crown.
“Loser,” she muttered.
I stared at her, into her eyes, and what I felt wasn’t anger. It was pity.
She was younger, foolish, and already burned. I had warned her she was only here because she looked like a replacement. She didn’t listen.
“I told you last night,” Ares said, stepping forward, “if you didn’t come home, you wouldn’t like the new development.”

He looked at me with no remorse, no guilt. Not even shame.
He was brazen. Bold. Emboldened by his own cruelty.
“As of now, Snow,” he declared, “our marriage is an open marriage”
Ana gasped. Silence swallowed the room after.

Ares waited for me to break. Lencia held her chin high, proud. But I stood there quietly, studying him. Studying them.
And then, slowly, a small smile tugged at my lips. Weak, tired and submissive.
Divorce is this week.
And now I have a witness to Ares‘ infidelity. Ana who is watching now. The moon goddess was on my side.

With that, I turned and mounted the stairs, humming lightly as I went.
