Snowflakes
“You have got to be kidding me. What did you just say?!”

Eshan snapped, glaring at me, and I bit my lower lip to keep the pain in my chest from spilling over. I hated when any of my brothers was angry with me, and Eshan was furious right now.
“You should calm down. She probably has her reasons,” Kashi’s voice came through before his face appeared on the video call. Eshan moved away angrily.
Silence fell as Kashi held my gaze. It was evening already, and my brothers had finally called to ask why I hadn’t arrived as we planned. I had agreed I would pack my things and return home.
“What’s going on, Snow? Hmm?” Kashi asked softly, searching my eyes. “Tell me. Why are you still there?”
“Because I need to convince the maid to be my witness in court,” I murmured. “I know how important a witness statement is. If I leave Ares‘ house, I might not be able to get access to Ana.”
“You can meet her outside. At her home. At a restaurant. Anywhere.”
I sighed, nodding because I knew that wasn’t true. Ana never went anywhere except this house. Meeting her outside would draw attention to her immediately.
“I don’t want to implicate her before she gets into the witness box.”
“We’ll compensate her if she does. You know we will.”
“Of course I do. More than anything, Kashi. But Ares can’t suspect anything before the court date. You know that.”
He hesitated, finally seeing my point. He exhaled slowly, still frustrated.
“Roc doesn’t want to speak with you right now, Snow. Neither does Eshan or Dad. Let’s just get this over with. Bring the maid over and make sure she’s willing to stand trial. Then you’ll finally be free from that bastard.”
He looked away at that last word, minding his language, and I nodded, understanding.
“I know, Kashi. I’ll be fine. Tell my brothers and Dad not to worry.”
He nodded once without meeting my eyes, then disconnected.
My heart felt heavy, but I knew this was the right call. Especially now that Ares had declared our marriage
open.
Now even Ana would understand why her testimony mattered.
“Madam?” Ana’s voice came from behind me, and I turned in the kitchen. “You wanted to make a meal?”

“Just warm tea,” I murmured. She paused, her eyes scanning mine with concern.
“You haven’t eaten since morning. You need food.”
“I’m fine, Ana. Just tea.”
She smiled softly, nodded, and went to prepare it, then footsteps sounded, and she appeared.
Lencia.

Since morning, after Ares declared we would have an open marriage, I had only changed my clothes and excused myself while they locked themselves in the master bedroom, fucking.
Now Lencia walked in wearing nothing but panties and one of his shirts, smiling in victory as she stared me down before turning her gaze on Ana, who watched her with thinly veiled disgust.
“Hey, maid,” Lencia said. “Make me an early dinner. Pick something good. I’m starving…”
She was still talking when Ana cut in, unable to hide the irritation.
“Yes. I will make a meal.”
She turned to finish preparing my tea first but Lencia lunged forward and shoved the cup from her hand. It shattered across the floor.
I froze. So did Ana. She had never been physically assaulted before.
“I asked you to make my meal first, and you want to serve this barren woman before me? Really?”
The word barren sliced through me. Lencia had crossed a line. Even Ana went pale.
“You should watch your tongue, Lencia,” I said coldly.
She glanced at me like I was nothing but trash. A used, forgotten thing.
“How about you know your place and keep quiet?”
Tension thickened between us, heavy and dangerous, until a voice from the entrance shattered it all.
“What’s going on here?”
Ares.
Lencia lowered her gaze instantly, playing the victim. Ares strode to her
“What did she do to you?” he demanded.
concern tightening his features.
“The maid wouldn’t make my meal, and your wife started insulting
me… calling me a mere mistress. It’s
not my fault she was never loved, Ares. It’s not my fault.” She sniffed, stepping away dramatically. “Maybe I should just leave…”

She made to walk off, but Ares grabbed her wrist and pulled her back, holding her close. His gaze snapped to me, cold, vicious, hateful.
“You can forget the tea, Ana,” I whispered, backing up. “I’ll go to Dove’s house and get some.”
I turned to leave but Ares moved in front of me, blocking my path completely.
“Stay right there,” he ordered.
I almost scoffed, but the look in his eyes made my throat close.
“Stay right there, and don’t you dare lift a limb, you barren bitch.”
That was it.
The last straw.
The final blow.
Even without his glare, I was already broken. Rooted to the spot, helpless, defeated. I watched him gather Lencia into his arms and lift her onto the center table, kissing her deeply right in front of me.
Heat curled in my chest. Anger, disgust, humiliation.
Lencia broke the kiss long enough to smirk at me before turning to Ana.
“Start making dinner.”
Poor Ana had no choice. She obeyed her master, turning
y to cook for Lencia while Ares kept kissing
his mistress, making it crystal clear that this marriage would be hell if I kept defying him.
