I open my eyes at the sound of the water washing up and forth the shore, the soft patter of the rain on the glass and the floor.
I laid there for more minutes, my eyes fixed on nothing, trying to gather my thoughts and remember why I am here.
It didn’t take long before memory crashed in and I slowly sat up, my heart leaping to my throat when I realized I am in Cupid’s bedroom alone. I am wearing his shirt, in his house, barefooted and I am completely healed.
I got up from where I lay and slowly found my way toward where his energy was coming from. I ended up standing at the window, and looking out, I saw him sitting alone on the veranda, smoking.
A lot of cigar packs, already exhausted, laid beside him while he stared out at the ocean, like he was trying to force peace into himself.
Looking at him from here, my heart stuttered and I blinked to shake the emotions away, but they all came crashing down anyway.
He is handsome. And he is a man who comes the second I need him to. The one who, the first who actually showed up when I called.
“Cupid,” I murmured his name, and slowly he stopped smoking. His head tilted, and he stared at me from the peaceful veranda.
Our eyes locked for a long time, and the tension in the air thickened. There is something about him, something about us, that feels sinful. Like we shouldn’t exist in the same space but that same dangerous, mysterious thing seems to be the reason we are bound together.
I love his gaze on me. I love how his hands touched me. I love my submission to him, I love his voice, and I love his name.
Our gaze held, and the silence spoke for us, the bond tightening in the air, until the sound of ringing shattered it, pulling us both back to reality.
I blinked softly as he stood from the veranda and headed inside. After a few seconds, I heard his footsteps entering the living room. I left the bedroom too, going to meet him, only to see it was a video call from his father.
He stood before the massive screen while I slowly made my way to the blind spot I had stood in the other day. Cupid glanced briefly at me, then back at the screen. He paused for a heart-

His father’s face appeared. Alpha Ruis. This time he was in his bedroom, doing nothing but staring at his son. The stare was sharp, almost a glare, almost a scolding. It was clear Cupid had angered him.
“You should come home so you can sit on the Alpha’s seat and start giving orders.”
Silence fell at that statement. Cupid stared back for a while before lowering his gaze apologetically.
“Forgive me, Father.”
“You will be the head of the Godlike since I am not capable enough. Cupid, you hear…”
“That’s not my intention…”
“Then what was your intention?!” The Alpha snapped, losing his restraint. “Tell me, Cupid. What were your intentions? At this hour, you were supposed to be in the same bed with Evalina Dravens. You were supposed to have sealed the deal completely, but what did you choose to do? What! Do you want the people out there to believe I can’t control my family? My own son? That I give an order to my son and he refuses to follow it? Why did you leave the airport nights ago? Why?!”
That was when it slammed into me and I went still.
Cupid had defied his own father to come to me the other night. That night.
I slowly looked at him, seeing how calm, cool, and respectful he remained. And now I knew nothing can stop him. No one.
“You will pull out of the charity event as Yenda advised, and you will board the flight this afternoon without fail. Your cousin will accompany you. You will go right to the Dravens estate and you will fuck that heiress until she cannot think of any man but you. Give her what she wants. Only then will I hear your apology, Cupid. Only then.”
With that, the call ended, and silence fell, but not for long.
Cupid’s cellphone began to ring. He pulled it out, stared at the screen briefly, and set his jaw before answering.
“Tell me.” A silence followed as he listened. Then he nodded. “I’ll meet you at the airport soon.”
He disconnected and stared into blank space for long moment. Finally, he turned, his eyes finding me where I stood watching him, my heart racing with jealousy at the order his father had given him.

Cupid walked toward his bedroom, about to bypass me, but I caught his wrist. He stopped just enough to search my eyes. There was no warmth in his gaze now, only something cold and unreadable.
“Cupid… you can’t lay with another woman when…” I tried, my voice low, soft, desperate.
But he cut in quietly, not willing to discuss any of that.
“Go check the news. You’re needed in court today.”
He left me standing there, stunned and worried. I stood for a while, torn between the thought of him being with another woman and reality pulling at me.
Finally, my eyes drifted to the TV. Quietly, I walked to it, picked up the remote, and switched it on.
It opened to a news channel, and right there, my divorce case was playing.
So it’s today? Does that mean throughout yesterday I have been in here?
That was surprisingly but what stunned me more was the realization that I had been here, in bed, unconscious for a whole day.
And Cupid… Cupid probably took care of me the entire time.
