I have only prayed a few times in my life, and I silently added one more the moment I heard Pinky’s words, wishing the floor would open and swallow me whole.
Never have my bones felt weaker than they did Hearing her. The truth behind it, the intention beneath it, tore through me, and I lowered my gaze, heart slamming violently in my chest.
Of all my brothers‘ relationships, I know how much Eshan worked to win Pinky. The years he spent courting her, the battles he fought with Lady Glitters before she finally accepted him, before their relationship became official, before Pinky Pie was acknowledged as Eshan Frost’s
woman.
They have been together for as long as I can remember, long before I ever married and now this? Will they break because of me?
I know Pinky’s rebellion won’t solve anything. It will only worsen the situation. Without her mother’s blessing, Eshan won’t fight dirty or force anything. My brothers live and breathe honor. Frost men don’t take what isn’t given.
“Pinky…”
“I am not going back home if that’s what you’re thinking, Eshan. I’m not listening to anything you have to say!” she snapped, cutting him off before he could breathe.
Her raised voice stirred Father awake. We froze when we heard his door open and close. Then he appeared, standing at the hallway entrance, eyes landing instantly on Pinky’s bag.
He didn’t need explanations. He already understood everything. His gaze settled on Eshan, who slowly turned back to Pinky.
“What exactly did your mother say? Did she explicitly tell you she doesn’t want me for you?”
“She kept talking about how this… this rumor will affect us. She… she said that when Kashi was arrested it made her lose millions…”
“Point of correction. Kashi wasn’t arrested. He was taken in for questioning,” Mirena interjected, calm but sharp, tightening the tension even more.
I bit my lower lip at the weight in the air, before Father exhaled, and both women bowed their heads slightly as if apologizing for the clas

“Call Glitters. Apologize. Tell her this won’t repeat itself. Show accountability and she will overlook this news and allow us a second chance”
Eshan sighed and nodded. He turned to Pinky.
“I will call your mom and explain things to her.”
“Eshan…”
“And you will stay silent. I don’t want to hear another word until I have spoken to my mother–in–law.”
He cut her off and walked into his room for his phone. We waited. Minutes crawled.
Finally, he returned dressed, car keys in hand.
“She wants us to meet,” he announced, stepping toward Pinky to kiss her hurriedly. “You aren’t going anywhere. I’ll fix this. Okay?”
She nodded, though terror lived openly in her eyes.
“Okay.”
He walked past me, moving toward the door. I stood frozen until my body moved on impulse.
I rushed after him, reaching him just as he opened his car door. He stopped when he saw me coming. I gripped his hand, heart pounding.
“You should… Eshan, you should tell her I’m a Mooncrester and… and not really a Frost. That way she might…”
“You are a Frost,” he whispered, gesturing me back inside. “Don’t stand in the cold. You’re barefoot.”

I didn’t realize we were all waiting on edge until he sound of Eshan’s car returned. We turn to see him enter the living room, tugging off his fur jacket, running a hand through his wolfcut hair.
He paused when he saw Father, then glanced at the clock.
“It’s way past your bedtime, Dad.”

“I’ll go to bed after hearing what your future mother–in–law said.”
Eshan nodded, turning to the hall.
“Is Pinky asleep?”
“She’s probably panicking,” Sera murmured. “She wouldn’t talk to me.”
“Her mother said she isn’t picking her calls either.”

A thick silence settled. Eshan stared off for a second, then looked at me. I sat stiffly on the sofa, holding my breath.
“I met Mother at the Dallas suite,” he began, voice low. “She sat me down and asked me a few questions. If my feelings were genuine, if I could shield her daughter from scandals, if I could protect her because…”
His eyes found mine again. His gaze dropped.
“Because I couldn’t protect my own sister so how would I protect her daughter?”
The silence that followed was brutal. My toes curled into the soft surface I sat on, and I picked at my fingers, whispering,
“That’s why I told you to tell her I’m Mooncrester, not Frost…”
He looked at me and shook his head.
“But everyone knows who you are. The Mooncrest blood in your veins yet you answer to the last name ‘Frost.’ You are Frost. You are my sister and Mother was right. I failed to protect you.”
He inhaled, voice thickening.
“But I told her not anymore. There are times we are young and naïve. Times we don’t act. Times we let monsters into our home. That was when your husband brainwashed you. That was when you thought it was love but it wasn’t.”
His voice softened, fierce in conviction.
“I told her about my sister Snowflakes. the most beautiful, determined woman I know. The one who survived more than most and always come back stronger. I told her this scandal will pass and you will rise from it.
“I told her you will focus on us, on healing, on rebuilding yourself and your work.
“And I promised her no scandal will ever stain Fost again. I asked her for one last chance, to

“In the end, she agreed. She sent words of affection and healing for you. And she said Pinky must return home, not stay here. She can visit, stay over sometimes, but her belongings must be in her house.”
His gaze warmed.
“So don’t blame yourself, Snow. Don’t feel guilty You were young and even though you are a werewolf, you
will always be human too, and sometimes you’d believe lies. Now you are grown, smarter, thriving.”
His voice broke gently.
“And I love you. I am proud of you. I am not ashamed of you. Okay?”
Those words pierced deeper than anything else. I tried to hold back the tears but they came anyway, stinging, hot.
I swallowed the ache, nodding slowly.
“Okay,” I whispered, letting the hurt loosen its hold.
Relief washed through me, heavy, cleansing, and finally, peaceful.
