Chapter 813: Chapter 813: The Old Man’s Terrifying Prophecy

The old man raised his crutch slightly, pointing its crooked tip towards her husbands.

"Because..." A sly, mischievous smile stretched across his wrinkled face. "...they are looking at me as though they want to tear me apart and swallow me alive right now."

The beastmen’s expressions darkened instantly. Rong Ye took one heavy step forward, his aura flaring. "You’re right."

The old man laughed softly. "See? Even now, he is calculating the fastest way to kill me."

Su Qinglan sighed, shaking her head. "Then just sit right here in the courtyard. There is no need for me to go anywhere alone with you."

The old man shook his head slowly. "Can you really bear for them to hear what I have to say?" His voice suddenly dropped, becoming extraordinarily soft, almost a breathless whisper meant only for her ears.

"Once certain words enter their ears... there are some things that can never be forgotten or undone."

Su Qinglan’s heart violently skipped a beat.

She didn’t know why, but those words struck something deep and raw inside her chest.

A cold, suffocating feeling flared up. Her instincts screamed at her: Don’t let them hear.

She didn’t know what this strange old man knew, but her gut warned her that exposing her husbands to his words would shatter their peace forever.

Su Qinglan slowly turned to look at her husbands. "Wait here."

Instantly, several voices objected at once.

"No!"

"You can’t go with him alone!"

"What if something happens?"

"Qinglan..."

Su Qinglan raised her hand, cutting them off firmly. "Nothing will happen to me." She looked at them with absolute composure. "I am at Level 16. Do you really think I can’t handle one frail old man?"

She glanced towards the frail figure standing a few paces away. He was so thin his dusty robes practically swallowed him whole, and he relied on a stick just to keep his balance.

Even if something went wrong, her husbands were powerful enough to span the distance in a fraction of a second.

"Just wait here," she repeated softly, giving them a reassuring look.

Though deeply reluctant, the beastmen could only nod and stand down.

Su Qinglan turned back to the visitor. "Let’s go."

The old man smiled faintly. "Good."

He turned around and slowly began walking away from the estate.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Su Qinglan followed a few paces behind him. They walked further and further away from the residence, neither of them speaking a word.

The old man’s pace was painfully slow, but Su Qinglan didn’t rush him. Eventually, they reached a quiet, isolated grove surrounded by wild trees, dense grass, and weathered stone boulders.

The old man finally stopped. He slowly lowered himself onto one of the smooth, flat stones. Su Qinglan stood across from him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Speak," she commanded flatly.

The old man looked up at her. For several seconds, he said nothing at all. Then, his lips curved into a quiet smile. "You don’t have much time here."
