Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 495

Charlotte hung up the phone just as a knock sounded at her door. She hurried to open it.

"Brother?" she said, surprised.

Wesley handed her a small vial of aromatherapy oil. "Dad asked me to give this to you."

Charlotte took it. "To help me sleep?"

He smiled. "He was worried you might have trouble sleeping in a new place. You have to come with Dad and me to see Grandfather tomorrow morning, so it's best to get a good night's rest and recharge."

"Okay," Charlotte nodded.

The next day, after a restful night thanks to the calming scent, Charlotte joined her parents and brother for breakfast before they all headed out.

In the car, Sean noticed Charlotte's slight nervousness and gently reassured her, "Don't worry. Your brother and I will be there with you. We're just going to see the old man; we won't stay long."

"That's right," Wesley added. "If you don't like someone, you don't have to pretend."

"Exactly," Sean chimed in. "Let them know that my daughter is not to be trifled with."

The back-and-forth between the two men made Charlotte laugh, and she instantly felt more relaxed.

Upon arriving at the main Rayburn estate, Charlotte followed her father and brother into the grand hall. An elderly man was seated in the main chair, quietly sipping tea. On either side of him sat two men and a woman.

The woman, in her fifties, was holding a Ragdoll cat and looked Charlotte over with a dismissive air.

Of the two men, who appeared to be of a similar age, one bore a slight resemblance to Sean. He was dressed casually but with the polished look of a public official, and his expression was amicable, unlike the woman's arrogance.
