Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 636

In the afternoon, Evander’s car was already waiting at the main entrance of the research institute. He sent a text message, then put his phone away and gazed out the window.

He didn't see Charlotte Sterling, but he did spot Judd.

Just as he was about to open the door and get out, a young woman came chasing after Judd, flitting around him like a butterfly.

He took a closer look and frowned.

It felt like stumbling upon gossip, only to realize it was about his own family.

“Mr. Howard, isn’t that… Miss Lilith?” the driver asked, glancing back.

Evander pulled his gaze away, rubbing the bridge of his nose with a hint of a headache. He had sent Lilith here to stir things up between Judd and Charlotte, yes, but he certainly hadn't intended for her to find a new suitor for the Sutherland family in the process.

Lilith, preoccupied with talking to Judd, didn’t notice Evander’s car until Judd stopped and looked ahead.

Curious, she turned to follow his gaze.

Evander got out of the car at an unhurried pace. Lilith froze for a few seconds, contemplating pretending she hadn't seen him, but Judd spoke first. “So, Mr. Howard isn’t hiding behind any props this time.”

He was referring to the mask.

Evander smiled faintly. “Now that the cards are on the table, there’s no need to hide.”

“Faking your death to slip away, hiding in Eldermere City as the adopted son of the Chase family… looking back, it was quite an impressive strategy, Mr. Howard.”

“And now Mr. Carstairs is giving out compliments?”

The two men stood facing each other, their auras equally powerful, and the air around them seemed to crackle with their silent standoff.

Caught in the middle, Lilith looked from one to the other, unsure of who to placate first.

When Charlotte emerged, she walked right into the tense scene. She paused for a moment before her eyes landed on Lilith.

Seeing her, Lilith felt like she’d found her savior. “Charlotte!” she called out.

She hurried over to Charlotte’s side and whispered, “You need to get Evander under control…”
