Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 640

She couldn't have misheard, could she?

While it was true she needed an opportunity to get closer to Judd, she hadn’t even worked out a plan yet. And now, someone had just handed her an idea on a silver platter!

Suppressing a grin, she pretended to think it over. “That does seem to make some sense. I’ll go talk to him about it later.”

Lilith finished speaking and was about to turn away, but the excitement was too much to contain. She spun back around, grabbing Charlotte’s hand. “Charlotte! From this day forward, you are my savior!”

With that, she walked off, humming a cheerful little tune.

Charlotte watched her go, a flicker of surprise on her face. She had only been probing a little, and it turned out to be true!

Still, Lilith was bound to fall for someone as exceptional as Judd. It was only natural. They both had their strengths and their personalities were complementary. If they actually got together, it wouldn't be a bad match at all.

When Mr. Rayburn returned to the estate, he didn't ask for any sort of welcome-home dinner, keeping things as normal as possible.

Sean and Susy Rayburn were waiting downstairs, but after a short while, only Caleb came down.

“Where’s Dad?” Susy asked.

“Dad’s resting. He said to cancel any family dinners.”

“But…” Susy had been planning a small dinner to lift their father’s spirits after the recent ordeal, but seeing the situation, she could only drop the idea. “Fine. It wasn't exactly an honorable situation to begin with. It makes sense not to have a celebration.”

After Susy left, the two brothers, Sean and Caleb, walked out into the courtyard. “You must be exhausted from running around for Dad all this time,” Sean said. “Why don’t you come over to my place for dinner?”

Caleb just smiled at the invitation. “I’m having dinner with Cannon, so I won’t be able to make it.”

“You brought Cannon back?” Sean asked, surprised.

“Just for a few days.”

“Alright then. In a couple of days, as his uncle, I’ll have to pick out a gift for him,” Sean said before walking away with his hands behind his back.

Caleb remained where he was, watching him disappear into the distance before finally looking away.

Night fell.

Just as Judd was heating up a self-heating meal, the doorbell rang.

He got up and went to the door, seemingly unfazed by his visitor. “What is it?”

Lilith’s eyes swept over him. He was wearing simple loungewear from a generic brand, probably less than a hundred bucks, but on him, it looked like a custom-tailored piece worth thousands. A handsome man really could make any clothes look good.
