Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 679

The following morning, Charlotte and Foster arrived at Yvonne's apartment. Just before Charlotte could knock, Foster stepped in front of her. "Let me handle this. Her mother is an absolute nightmare."

"Whether her mother knows the truth or not, she's still fighting for her daughter. It's fine." She knocked on the door.

A moment later, an elderly woman with silver hair answered. Seeing two strangers on her doorstep, she paused. "Who might you be..."

"Is this Yvonne's home?"

The elderly woman ushered them inside and headed toward one of the bedrooms, knocking on the door. "Sweetheart, you have visitors."

With that, she shuffled happily back to the living room, exuding warmth. "Please, sit anywhere. Don't be shy. Here, have some hot tea and pastries. I just bought them this morning."

Seeing the woman enthusiastically offering them food, Charlotte felt slightly overwhelmed. "Thank you, Grandma. We can serve ourselves."

"Nonsense, nonsense, you're guests!" The elderly woman waved off her concerns. Seeing Yvonne still hadn't emerged, she called out toward the hallway again. "Sweetheart, hurry up!"

A few moments later, Yvonne sluggishly dragged herself out of her room, pulling on a jacket.

She stumbled into the living room, looking as if she had just woken up. The second she laid eyes on Charlotte, however, the sleep vanished entirely from her face.

Charlotte offered her a polite smile. "Hello. We've met."

Yvonne avoided her gaze, biting her lip in silence.

"Sweetheart, they're your friends! You need to be a good host," the grandmother scolded gently as she sat down with them. "This kid has always been rebellious. Look at her—dropped out of school way too young, worked for a year without making anything of herself. Stays up all night playing video games and sleeps all day. It breaks my heart."
