Chapter 178

Roman’s POV

Pierre tried to shield himself, his arms coming up in a weak defensive posture.

He delivered a fist toward my face, then another, but the punches were pathetic, the weak flailing of a man who had never been in a real fight in his life.

I caught his wrist mid swing, twisted it until he cried out, then used the leverage to flip him onto his stomach on the table.

“Please! Roman, stop! I didn’t. I wasn’t.”

I grabbed a chair, one of the heavy leather ones that cost more than most people’s monthly rent.

I lifted it over my head, the weight solid in my hands, and brought it down on his body.

The chair connected with his ribs.

Pierre screamed loudly, the sound of someone experiencing real pain for probably the first time in his privileged life.

His body convulsed, curling in on itself as he tried to protect his torso.

“You like hurting people who can’t fight back?” I lifted the chair again. “Let’s see how you like it.”

I brought it down again. This time it hit his shoulder. The wood tracked but held.

Pierre groaned, the sound bubbling up from deep in his chest as he tried to roll away. I grabbed him by the collar and dragged him back.

“Please! God, please stop! You’re going to…”

I held the chair above him, letting him see it, letting the anticipation build. His eyes were wide with terror, blood streaming from his nose and mouth, one eye already swelling shut.

“I’ll give you one last chance.” My voice was calm now, eerily so. Tell me what you did to Anna.”

Pierre coughed, blood spraying from his lips. His ribs heaved with each breath, probably cracked, maybe broken.

He was deeply terrified in a way that men like him rarely experienced.

“I might have put something in her drink.” The words came out between gasps. “Just to make her more relaxed. More open

to…”

I didn’t let him finish. Without thinking, I slammed the chair against his body again. This time it struck across his back. The wood finally splintered, pieces breaking off. Pierre’s scream was inhuman.

“You fucking piece of shit!” I was roaring now, all pretense of control gone. “You drugged her! You were going to abuse her in my club!”

“Please! Roman, please stop!” Pierre’s voice was barely recognizable, choked with pain and terror. “You’re going to kill me! I’m sorry. I’m sorry!”

I leaned down, my face inches from his. “That’s the plan.”

His eyes went even wider, if that was possible.

I straightened, tossing what remained of the chair to the side. It attered across the floor, pieces scattering.

“But I’m letting you live. Today.” I crouched down beside him, grabbing his hair and yanking his head up so he had to look at me. “Stay away from Anna.”

I leaned closer, my voice dropping to a terrifying tone.

“You never talk to Anna again. You never look at her. You never think about her. If her name crosses your mind, you forget it immediately. You’re banned from this club. If I see you here again, if I hear you’ve even driven past this building, I’ll finish what I started tonight. Do you understand me?”

Pierre tried to nod, the movement restricted by my grip on his hair. Blood dripped from his mouth, pooling on the floor beneath him.

“But I paid three years in advance.” The words came out broken, barely audible. “I’m one of your biggest members. You can’t just…”

I grabbed him by the throat, my fingers digging into the soft flesh. His eyes bulged, his hands coming up to claw at my wrist.

“Talk back to me one more time.” I squeezed harder. “I dare you. Give m me one more reason to end this right now. Tell me how important you think you are. Tell me about your membership. Tell me what you think your money entitles you to. Please. I’m begging you to give me an excuse.”

His face was turning purple. The clawing at my wrist became more frantic, more desperate.

“If you ever, ever put your hands on another woman without her consent, if you drug another drink, if you so much as think about doing what you tried to do tonight, I will know. And I will find you. What I did here will seem like mercy compared to what comes next.”

I released his throat. “Now get the fuck out of my sight before I change my mind about letting you live.”

Pierre nodded frantically, blood streaming from his nose and mouth. He tried to crawl away, his movements pathetic, his body shaking.

Elliot stepped aside to let him pass. Pierre dragged himself toward the door, leaving a trail of blood, his groans echoing in the suddenly quiet room.

I turned back to Anna.

She was still being supported by one of the guards, but her legs were shaking, barely holding her weight.

The drugs and alcohol were hitting her harder now, the shock of the situation overwhelming whatever adrenaline had been keeping her upright.

The guards stepped back as I approached, giving us space.

Anna’s eyes were unfocused, tears streaming down her face. When I reached her, her legs gave out. I caught her, my arms going around her waist, pulling her against my chest.

“Did you kill him?” Her voice was small, frightened, confused.

“No.” I held her close, one hand moving to cup the back of her head. “But I should have.”

She shook her head against my chest, the movement weak. “Nom fine.”

I pulled back enough to look at her face, tilting her chin up with my fingers. Her eyes were bloodshot, the pupils still too dilated, her skin pale beneath the club lights.

My thumb brushed her cheek, wiping away tears.

Her gaze dropped to my hands. Blood covered my knuckles, some of it mine from split skin, most of it Pierre’s. Her eyes widened slightly, focusing on the red staining my fingers.

“You’re hurt.” She reached for my hand, her movements uncoordinated, her fingers trembling as they tried to grasp mine. “Roman, you’re…”

And just then her eyes rolled back. Her body went limp.

I caught her before she could fall, sweeping her up into my arms in one smooth motion.

Her head fell against my shoulder, her breathing shallow.

The drugs had finally overwhelmed her system.
