Craving My Ruthless Ceo novel Chapter 179

Chapter 179

Roman’s POV

I carried Anna through the private corridor that led to my personal suite.

The door to my suite opened with a fingerprint scan. I shouldered through, then kicked it closed behind us.

I carried her to the king sized bed that dominated one side of the room and laid her down carefully, supporting her head as I lowered her onto the silk sheets.

She was barely conscious, her eyes fluttering, her breathing shallow. Her head fell against my shoulder one last time before I eased her back onto the pillow.

I brushed the hair back from her face, my fingers lingering on her forehead. It was warm, too warm. What the hell did that bastard give her?

Her eyes opened slowly, the pupils still blown wide and unfocused. She looked around, trying to make sense of her surroundings, her gaze sliding over the room without really seeing it.

“Where is this place?” Her voice was weak and confused.

“My suite.” I moved away from the bed, crossing to the bar area that occupied the corner of the room.

My office desk sat near the window, papers neatly stacked, laptop closed.

The bar ran along one wall, fully stocked, with kitchen cabinets pove and below.

“Private…” She blinked slowly, trying to process, then pushed wekly against the mattress as she tried to sit up. “At the club?”

“Don’t move.” I grabbed a bottle of water from the small refrigerator under the bar and returned to her side. “Yes. Now don’t talk. Drink this.”

I sat on the edge of the bed and uncapped the bottle. Sliding an em behind her shoulders, I lifted her carefully into a sitting position and steadied her against me. I brought the bottle to her lips.

She took a small sip, then tried to pull away,

“More.” I tilted the bottle again. “You need this.”

She drank reluctantly, grimacing at the plain taste of the water. After a few more sips she tried to push the bottle away, but I caught her wrist before she could.

“Finish it. All of it.” My tone left no room for argument. “The water will help keep you hydrated and clear your head a little.

Drink.”

She drank more, coughing slightly, water dribbling down her chin.

I wiped it away with my thumb, then kept the bottle at her lips til she had drained every last drop.

Only then did I set it aside and help her lie back down, adjusting the pillow under her head.

I moved back to the kitchen area and opened a few cabinets, pulling out what I needed. Honey, lemon, ginger root.

I rarely made tea for myself, but I kept these around.

I still didn’t know what Pierre had given her. And it was too late start calling my doctor or arranging anything,

Tomorrow I would have her tested. I would find out exactly what was in her systern.

For now, I stuck to what I knew. What I had picked up years ago dealing with friends who had taken more than they could handle.

I grabbed a knife and sliced the ginger, then set water to boil.

While it heated, I squeezed some lemon into a mug, added honey, and dropped the ginger in. When the water was ready, I poured it in and stirred.

It smelled strong, but the honey helped.

Good enough.

I carried it back to the bed, where Anna had closed her eyes again. I sat beside her, placing the mug on the nightstand, then touched her shoulder.

“Anna. Wake up. You need to drink this.”

Her eyes opened, unfocused. “What is it?”

“Something to help with the hangover and whatever else is in your system.” I lifted the mug to her lips. “Drink.”

She took a sip and immediately tried to spit it out, her face contorting in disgust.

I caught her chin with my free hand, my grip firm but gentle. “No. You need it. I don’t know what that bastard gave you, and until I do, you’re drinking every last drop of this.”

She swallowed reluctantly, her throat working, her face twisting with each gulp. When she tried to turn her head away, I followed, keeping the mug at her lips.

“Roman, it’s disgusting…”

“It’s for your own good.” I kept my voice level. “You’re drugged and drunk. This will help.”

She took another sip, gagging slightly, then another. I made her finish half the mug before setting it back on the nightstand.

“Good girl. We’ll try more in a few minutes. For now, just breathe”

She tried to lie back as her head rolled to one side, then the other.

Then her fingers clawed at the sheets and moved to her body, scratching at her arms as if trying to shed her own skin.

I leaned close, catching her hands before she could hurt herself.

“Hey, look at me. Look at me, Anna.” I kept my voice low and steady. “I’m right here. You’re safe, Just relax, okay? I’ve got you.”

She stilled slightly at my voice, her breathing ragged as she lay back against the pillow.

Then her expression changed. The drowsiness faded as anger flared in her hazy eyes, cutting through the fog of drugs and alcohol.

“This is all your fault.” Her words were slow and slurred. She pushed weakly at my chest, the movement clumsy but full of anger. “If you hadn’t hurt me, maybe I wouldn’t have gone out looking for Laurent.”

My hands clenched into fists at my sides.

She was right.

If I had not been so determined to do the right thing with her, she never would have gone looking for Laurent. She never would have been anywhere near Pierre and his drugs.

I thought I was protecting her. Protecting her innocence. Making sure she never woke up with regrets.
