Cross My Tigress Face the Wrath (Stella) novel Chapter 1058

Yvonne fell silent.

Well, he wasn’t wrong. There was nothing shameful about this—it was perfectly normal for a married woman. Why should she be embarrassed?

Yvonne drifted off almost instantly, but Xander was left restless, his body burning with desire. No matter how he tried, sleep just wouldn’t come.

His phone buzzed. Shawn was calling, sounding just as exasperated as he felt.

“You’re a real piece of work, bro! And thanks for finding me such a stellar sister-in-law!” Shawn spat out, half-joking, half-resentful.

“How far have you gone?” Xander asked dryly.

“Ten kilometers!” Shawn huffed.

“That’s all?”

“Why don’t you try it? If you’re so tough, go hike ten kilometers up a mountain next time. Let’s see how cocky you are then!”

Shawn could barely keep it together. They hadn’t let him take the easy path; if it had been the main road, he’d have finished ages ago. But, no, it had to be a winding mountain trail. At this point, Shawn’s legs felt like they’d been run through a meat grinder—agony with every step.

“Come pick me up!” he demanded.

This was insane. He’d been walking for hours and was still only halfway done.

Without another word, Xander hung up. Shawn could only stare at his phone as the busy tone echoed in his ear, feeling completely abandoned.

“Unbelievable. Ditch your friends for a girl, huh?” he muttered, fuming with frustration.

He wasn’t the only one tossing and turning that night in the Schultz household.

Mona was just about to retreat to her bedroom when Berry’s name flashed on her phone. Immediately, Mona hurried to her study, locked the door, and answered.

“Berry?”

Berry sounded borderline indignant. “But what about my surgery? You know they need payment upfront at the hospital.”

They always chose the best clinics, where no one would even discuss surgery until the money cleared.

“Then reschedule for after three days,” Mona told her.

“But my appointment’s set! I already talked to the doctor!” Berry protested, her patience wearing thin. It was only a million dollars—how bad could things be that her mom had to delay such a trivial sum?

“Just change the date. That’s final.” Mona cut her off and hung up.

The pressure was closing in around Mona’s temples. Berry couldn’t wait much longer; any more delays would ruin everything, especially with Stella’s due date drawing near. Berry would need time to heal after this last round of surgery.

“That damned Yvonne… Tomorrow, she’ll get what’s coming to her,” Mona muttered viciously to herself.

But that night, sleep was just as far away for her as it was for the rest of the family.
