Stella stared at him. "The wrong car?" That was... bizarre.
"Then why did you bring her back here?"
Stella couldn't help but interrogate him. Growing up in the Quinn family naturally bred a deep sense of caution.
Her serious tone was enough to make the girl's eyes well up with tears. "I... I don't remember my brother or my parents' phone numbers," she sobbed, hiding behind Idris again.
"Where were you heading?" Stella asked, softening her voice.
"To Philly."
"Where do you live?"
"The Sena Islands. Specifically, the Westbridge Peninsula."
Stella sighed. The Sena Islands were over a thousand miles away, and Philly was another thousand miles in the opposite direction.
To make matters worse, the infrastructure in the Sena Islands was so underdeveloped that they didn't even have a commercial airport. Philly, on the other hand, was a bustling metropolis.
"Why didn't they call your phone?"
"I left it in my brother's car."
Stella massaged her temples. This was a complete disaster.
She looked at Idris. "Can't we just buy her a plane ticket to Philly?"
"I don't have my ID," the girl whimpered, looking like she was about to completely break down. "And even if I got there, I wouldn't know how to find them."
Stella, Susanna, and Tegan all exchanged bewildered glances. So she was completely stranded.
Idris knew exactly why Stella was pressing for details. She was worried this girl was a plant, especially with the wedding happening tomorrow.
Hearing that, Lillian burst into fresh tears, looking at Ronald in terror. "I get motion sickness! I got out to use the restroom, and when I got back in, I immediately fell asleep again!"
Ronald's dominating presence was simply too overwhelming. After barely two sentences, she was sobbing uncontrollably. She had lived a very simple life. Her parents were fishermen, and her brother worked in tech.
This time, she was traveling to Philly because her brother had worked there for three years and managed to buy a house. He wanted their parents to move there for retirement, and he had even found her an administrative job. The whole family was relocating.
Her father had already gone ahead, so she was supposed to be traveling with her brother and mother.
"Have someone drive her back to the Westbridge Peninsula," Ronald ordered coldly.
"No, you can't!" Lillian wailed, crying even harder. "We already sold our house on the peninsula! We're supposed to be moving to Philly!"
Ronald's expression darkened.
Terrified, Lillian choked back her sobs and shrank behind Idris once again. The only person she could cling to right now was the man who had accidentally brought her here; she had no idea what else to do.
