So, everyone in the Murray family—and Yvonne—finally knew the truth: Susanna had been with Hull all along, and she was nothing more than a pretext to attack Black Gate. After turning Black Gate completely upside down, they'd started parading around town without a care in the world, the pretense completely dropped.
The realization was a physical blow to the Murrays. They had been completely played.
That evening, Susanna lay in bed, clutching the phone like a lifeline as she talked to Yvonne. She was terrified.
"I honestly thought you knew!" Susanna said, her voice trembling. "Hull told me he was going to tell you."
By the time she realized Hull hadn't said anything, Yvonne was already on a warpath against Black Gate, going full throttle. If Susanna had spoken up then, Yvonne would have blown a fuse. It was too late, so Susanna had kept her mouth shut, too scared to say anything.
"You little brat," Yvonne huffed into the phone. "Just wait until I get my hands on you."
"Yvonne~"
"Don't even try the innocent act. It won't work on me."
Susanna's heart sank. But Star had just told her that was exactly what worked on Yvonne. She'd told her to call Yvonne first, apologize, and turn on the charm, and everything would blow over.
Hearing Yvonne's stern tone, Susanna sniffled. "I really didn't mean for it to happen~"
"I'm not forgiving you." Yvonne's voice was firm. There was no way she could forgive this. Absolutely not.
"Yvonne…"
Susanna blinked. "Stand in the corner? Like a time-out?"
"That’s me going easy on you, for Star's sake."
"I'll stand for two nights," Susanna said without hesitation. If standing in a corner for a night would earn her Yvonne's forgiveness, it was more than worth it. After all, Yvonne had done so much for her, and seeing her go to war with Black Gate on her behalf had made her feel terrible. What had she ever done to deserve such loyalty?
"I'll stand for three nights. I'll stand every night," Susanna blurted out. She would do anything to make it right.
Yvonne just snorted and hung up. Susanna stared at her phone, bewildered, then quickly called Stella. When Stella heard that Yvonne's punishment was to make Susanna stand in a corner for a night, she let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, good. That means she's forgiven you."
