Rania was very quiet, she seemed to know what happened, after all this was her body and this was not the first time she felt

this way.

Yet, her heart couldn’t stop beating so fast. It almost felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest.

And when Karin was here, Maximus immediately moved to give the space to the healer. He was also very quiet, but it was not the same like Rania.

He didn’t know what Rania already knew.

“What is it? What happened with her?” Maximus picked up immediately the sight of Karin’s expression, the way she widened her eyes in shock and then gave Rania a meaningful look.

“Is it what I am thinking?” Rania’s voice is soft, she stared at Karin, who nodded slowly. There was a myriad thought in Rania’s mind after that confirmation.

However, Maximus decided it for her. “Get it out,” he said coldly without missing a beat. “Get. It. Out.”

Maximus was not stupid, he knew what it meant, he knew what the tacit understanding between Rania and Karin was about He could see the sign, it was all there.

It was the same.

“Get that thing out of her.” Maximus didn’t even want to say that the thing in Rania’s belly was their baby.

Karin pressed her lips. She looked at Rania. She knew this was inevitable. She knew that this was what should be done when it happened.

“What are you waiting for!?” Maximus roared at the healer. “Get everything ready! I want it be done right away! Now!” Maximus was losing it.

He reacted as if Rania was having a disease that would spread on her body, which would cause her to die. Which was true. In a way, it was not wrong. She could die if they waited until a few more months and the fetus in her womb grew stronger.

“I… I will prepare everything. I will prepare a concoction for you….” Karin patted Rania’s hand, which she held and then stood up. She walked hastily out of the room.

And once she left, thick silence descended between the two of them, stretched out like a rubber, filled with tension.

Maximus said nothing and Rania lowered her head, staring at her hands, playing absentmindedly with her fingers. She didn’t know what to think, or what to do at this point.

She wanted to agree with Maximus, telling herself that was the right thing to do, but it didn’t feel right.

Some part of her wanted to scream to the abyss that she didn’t want to go through this again. Some part of her wanted it to be done, she wanted this to be over and she didn’t want to give up her baby again.

There should be three of them. She should have had them in her arms, if only her body was better. She should be able to have them if only she was stronger.

After a long silence that felt like forever, Maximus came to Rania, he held both of her hand and kissed her knuckles.

“I promise this will be the last time. This will be the end of it. I promise you.” Maximus lowered his head, his lips touched her skin and they felt so cold.

“Are you planning not to touch me anymore?” Rania asked, she attempted to make a joke, to lighten up the mood, but the heaviness of the situation had weighted them down, there was nothing could make them feel better.

“Of course not, I want to touch you. I am going to die if I can’t touch you,” Maximus said softly, smiling against her knuckles.

“But, you are not going to make love to me, right?” Rania watched Maximus lifted his head and kissed her on the lips.

“Only to pleasure you. You don’t need to be worried about that.”

Rania didn’t feel better after she heard that, if anything, she felt sick to her stomach when she heard what Maximus’s solution was.

She retracted her hand subtly. “I want to walk in the garden….” She got off the bed and walked towards the door with Maximus followed behind her.

He didn’t walk with her, he simply followed her from behind, keeping five steps away from his mate, because he knew Rania needed this some alone time for her own, she wanted to be alone. She didn’t want to be disturbed.
