Crowned by the Man They Feared (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 675

In a place like that, packed with people everywhere, there was no way Mom could've escaped.

So what's going to happen to her now?

The more Amelia thought about it, the more panic clawed at her chest. Her fingers twisted into Jeremy's shirt so tightly that her knuckles turned white, and her eyes began to burn.

"Where are the cops? Did they take her? Is she going to … be okay?"

She couldn't finish the question. The word "die" felt like a boulder crushing her heart, making it hard to breathe.

She remembered clearly the look in Emery's eyes back then—so resolute, so final—and the spray of blood when Gianna fell. The image was seared into her mind, impossible to erase.

She could almost still smell the thick metallic scent in the air, clashing harshly with the clean, cool scent of Jeremy.

It kept reminding her that the blood-soaked scene hadn't been a nightmare. It had been real.

"Emery…" Jeremy's expression turned serious when she brought it up.

He knew there was no hiding this from her, so he told her honestly, "She was taken by the police. She's being held in custody.

"But don't panic. Miguel's a lawyer. There's no way he'll just sit back and let something happen to his own mother.

"I've also asked Mr. Guzman to step in. We'll find a way."

Dane was one of the most well-known attorneys in the country, especially experienced with cases like this.

"Okay," Amelia answered softly.

She wasn't naive. She knew this wasn't something that would just disappear.

Killing someone was a felony. A life-for-a-life kind of crime. And it had happened in front of so many witnesses.

There were witnesses. There was physical evidence.

With Regina's personality, there was no way she would let it go.

Even if it had started as self-defense, Emery hadn't just stopped at defending herself—she had said those things.

She had stabbed Gianna again and again. That went far beyond ordinary self-defense.

Jeremy saw the shadow in Amelia's eyes and knew exactly where her thoughts were headed. He patted her back gently, holding her the way you'd soothe a frightened child.

"Wash up and eat something. I'll take you to see her."

He knew she wouldn't be able to rest until she saw for herself.

After all, that was her biological mother. And she had done it to save her.

"Okay." She nodded.

Amelia forced herself to stop spiraling and got up to wash and eat.

She had no appetite. Even after going a full day and night without food, she didn't feel hungry.

She only managed a small bowl of oatmeal and a dinner roll before she couldn't eat another bite.
