Crowned by the Man They Feared (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 705

They were adults, alone in a quiet house, and fueled by the history of a past romance. A simple kiss was never going to be the end of it.

As they moved together, Josie felt her body's muscle memory stir. A deep, dormant heat flared up, spreading through her limbs like a long-forgotten fever.

They moved in a blur of motion from the foyer to the hallway and finally into her bedroom. Soon, clothes were being discarded in a trail across the floor as they collapsed onto the bed, letting nature take its course. The room seemed to grow warmer, thick with the heavy, sweet scent of intimacy.

The next morning, Josie woke up feeling like she had been dismantled and put back together. Her mind felt like thick sludge.

For a few seconds, she stared at the ceiling, wondering where she was. Then the memories began to filter back in fragments.

She couldn't quite remember the details of the bar or who she had been talking to, but everything that happened after she got home was crystal clear.

She replayed the highlights of Harrison's performance in her mind, filling in the blanks with a satisfied grin. He had been impressive.

She buried her face in her hands, rolling back and forth across the mattress in a fit of bashful excitement. It was only after a few minutes of this that she realized the other side of the bed was cold. Harrison was gone.

"Are you serious? He just hit it and quit it?" she muttered, her eyes narrowing. "Typical jerk."

She grumbled under her breath as she headed to the bathroom to pull herself together. Josie was an optimist by nature and didn't believe in dwelling on misery for long.

If he wanted to be a player and disappear after a night together, fine. She'd just have to find a way to break into his house, return the favor, and leave before he woke up. She could play that game, too.

She finished her morning routine and wandered out of the bedroom in her pajamas. When she reached the open kitchen, she stopped short. Harrison was still there.

"Oh, you're still here?" she asked, her voice hitching in surprise.

Harrison looked up and arched an eyebrow. "Is there a reason I shouldn't be?"

He began setting the table, placing a bowl of steaming pasta, a glass of milk, and a fresh fruit salad in front of her.

It was a complete reversal of her "hit and run" theory. Far from being a jerk, he was being incredibly attentive, providing the kind of post-intimacy care most women only dreamed about.

Josie felt a flush of embarrassment creep up her neck. She had been ready to brand him a villain and plot her own "bad girl" revenge, only to realize she had completely misjudged him.
