Dark Queen Of Apocalypse (by Morgan Hale) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189

Chloe understood.

The Spiritual Space System was always silent, unless it wanted something from her.

All in all, it just had its eye on her powered stone.

She carved out a forbidden zone inside her spiritual space, making sure the System couldn’t automatically help itself to any of her important items.

The mutant serpent’s body and core were also kept in that forbidden zone.

She’d originally planned to bury that energy stonefrom beyond under the base, so everyone could continuously absorb the energy from the power–infused water and quickly boost their powers.

“Chloe, when you get your hands on something good, you gotta use it. Upgrade the spiritual space, and it’ll reward you even more down the line,” the System chimed in.

Chloe gritted her teeth and stomped her foot down. “Alright, but you have to make some immunity liquid for me using the mutant flowers and it better be free.”

Chloe had once come across a mutant flower back in university town. It could grant powered humans immunity to the zombie virus.

Once processed in the spiritual space, a single mutant flower could yield five clean drops of liquid, enough to treat five people.

If one just ate the mutant flower raw, it’d only work for one person.

“Okay,” the Spiritual Space System quickly agreed.

Only then did Chloe let the System take things from the forbidden zone.

It took a full day and night before she finally heard the System’s mechanical voice in her mind again.

“Congratulations, Chloe. Your spiritual space has reached the peak of Level two. Keep it up. Level three is just around the corner,” the System announced.

Chloe couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.

She cursed inwardly, ‘Damn it. Even with that massive chunk of powered stone, it still wasn’t enough to push the spiritual space to Level three?

‘Am I going to have to run myself ragged just searching for energy from now on?‘

Noticing Chloe’s shock, the System chimed in, “Chloe, the more you put into the spiritual space, the more you’ll get out of it.

“New feature unlocked. You can now teleport up to 330 feet at a time via the spiritual space. You can spend up to 5 hours a day inside, and any unused time will roll over to the next day.

“The spiritual space now lets you the Host bring someone in. That person can stay for one minute, and it won’t use up any of your own time in the space.”

Hearing that, Chloe finally broke into a smile.

She still remembered how, when she’d brought Emily into the spiritual space for a teleport, it hadn’t even lasted a second and it instantly burned through half an hour of her own time inside.

“Did you make my immunity liquid yet?” Chloe asked.

The System replied, “The spiritual space has produced twenty drops of immunity liquid. Anyone who takes it will be immune to any kind of virus.

“The spiritual space has produced five drops of mutagenic liquid. Anyone who takes it will have their powers awakened.”

Chloe was grinning from ear to ear. She couldn’t be happier.

The mutagenic liquid was refined from Elise’s core, a few leaves from mutagenic herbs, and a mix of rare medicinal ingredients.

At the thought of it, Chloe felt a pang of regret. There used to be several mutagenic herbs growing right next to the mutant flower patch, but the zombies had stomped them all to pieces.

Thankfully, because she couldn’t bear to leave the tattered leaves behind, she’d brought them back. To her surprise, they could still be used.

As for the rare herbs, Chloe had basically cleaned out all the supplies in Hevenseale, grabbing every stash of precious medicine hidden away in the local pharmacies.

She didn’t even recognize most of those meds, but she just dumped them into the spiritual space and let the System automatically identify and absorb whatever was useful.

She rounded everyone up.

“Captain, what’s up?” someone asked.

Chloe took a seat on the couch and glanced at the crowd. Even Liana, who was usually buried in her plant research, and the little baby who was hungry, had shown up. No one was left out.

They felt the same. It was lucky to have a captain like Chloe. Without her, they’d be like the other powered humans out there, risking their necks every day just to scrape together supplies, sometimes even fighting to

“Besides, we got to absorb a bunch of cores during those fights all because you gave them to us.

The other twenty vials each held a drop of translucent red liquid.

Chloe gestured toward the thumb–sized vials holding the red liquid.

“These twenty vials are immunity liquid. Like the name says, they’ll keep you safe from the zombie virus, give your immune system a serious boost, and even help protect you if you run into any poisonous mutant creatures,” Chloe’explained.

As soon as she finished, everyone’s eyes went wide, mouths hanging open as if they could fit an egg inside, eyes glued to the twenty–five glass vials on the table, as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

In the empty villa hall, a chorus of sharp intakes of breath echoed through the room.

“Are you serious?” Frank blurted out, eyes wide in disbelief.

‘No way… There’s actually something out there that can make people immune to the zombie virus? Frank thought, his mind reeling.

Chloe repeated what she’d just said, and only then did everyone finally snap out of it and find their voices again.

“Captain, are you saying…” someone stammered, still in shock.

Chloe replied with a confident smile, “Exactly, just like you’re thinking.

“In Blaze Squad, we’ve got three regular folks, my little sister, my aunt, Linda, and Frank’s kid.

“So, I say we give them three drops of mutagenic liquid, and stash the other two for trading when we need supplies. Anyone got a problem with that?”

Everyone shook their heads in perfect sync. “Nope.”

Their answer was loud and unanimous. No one disagreed for even a second.

Then Chloe turned her attention to the twenty red vials, and everyone held their breath, anticipation written all over their faces.

“Each of you, step forward and take a vial of immunity liquid. The last seven will be saved for bartering supplies later,” Chloe announced.

Even though Chloe had voiced what everyone was thinking deep down, the whole group still drew in a sharp breath.

Everyone swallowed nervously, eyes wide and blinking, but no one dared to make the first move.
