Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 834

Ariel couldn't be bothered about the consequences anymore. If anything went wrong, Jayson would handle it.

By the time her makeup was finished and she had slipped into her wedding dress, it was already 10:30 am.

She patted her cheeks to wake herself up a little. Meanwhile, Jayson had also changed into his custom-tailored suit.

With his tall, athletic build, Jayson looked stunning. Ariel rarely saw a man who wore suits as well as he did—it was as if suits were made for him.

Jayson walked up to Ariel and cast her a sidelong glance. "Ms. Walker, you might want to hide that lustful look in your eyes. Where's your self-restraint?"

Ariel wasn't flustered in the slightest. Even after years of marriage, she still found Jayson attractive.

Then it hit her—they were running late. She grabbed Jayson's arm and started pulling him toward the door. "You're way too chill. We're already behind schedule."

Jayson held her hand. "We're taking this car."

They climbed into a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Ariel blinked in confusion. "We're not using a wedding car?"

Jayson raised an eyebrow. "Nope."

Ariel didn't understand his reasoning, but she didn't press the issue. She yawned and closed her eyes, trying to rest.

After the past few grueling weeks, she felt like a super soldier. She didn't want to waste a single moment of rest, especially knowing how exhausting the day ahead would be.

The last-minute testing their superiors had requested days ago had pushed her to her limits.

Seeing how tired she was, Jayson teased, "Should we just call off the wedding?"

Ariel shot him a look. "You want to call off the wedding after making all these preparations? Grandma and the others will kill you."

A mischievous glint sparkled in Jayson's eyes. He didn't seem concerned. "The process doesn't matter much when the outcome's the same."

Ariel couldn't deny he had a point. Still, today's wedding was a grand affair. Top media outlets were invited to cover the event. Influential families from across the country had flown to Eldoria to attend.

It was publicly announced that Bluum Corp's owner was getting married—and that his daughter was celebrating her one-month milestone.

"I got here first. I should hold the baby first!" Janice insisted, refusing to back down.

She could tell exactly what Elsie was thinking. As expected, they were competing to see who would hold Claire first.

Elsie pursed her lips. "Do you even know how? I spent an entire summer helping my sister with her kids. I'm way more experienced."

Renee, who was watching over Claire, frowned. "Did either of you wash or sanitize your hands? No touching the baby with germs."

That meant neither of them could hold Claire until they cleaned up.

Janice agreed with Renee's caution. A baby's immune system was fragile, and hygiene was essential. But Elsie was prepared. She pulled out a packet of disinfectant wipes from her bag and grinned as she wiped her hands. "I knew that. That's why I came prepared."

Janice was speechless. She had known from the start that she and Elsie wouldn't get along. Now, Elsie was clearly showing off.

Frustrated that Elsie had gotten ahead of her, Janice glanced at her watch and was about to ask Renee when Ariel would arrive.

Before she could speak, someone burst into the venue—anxious and visibly flustered.
