Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 875

Ariel could see that Janice was feeling unusually downcast. The carefree, cheerful woman now wore a grim expression.

Yet, despite the heaviness in her demeanor, Janice's eyes still blazed with grit and tenacity. She wasn't ready to surrender to fate just yet.

"What are your plans?" Ariel asked softly.

She worried Janice hadn't prepared enough. Ariel wanted to know the details so she could step in if problems arose.

Janice shook her head and squeezed Ariel's hand. "It's alright. You shouldn't trouble yourself with a messy situation like this. I'll handle it."

Today's wedding was deeply entangled with the Garner and Swanson families' businesses. Things could get complicated, and Janice risked offending more than a few people.

Knowing Janice well, Ariel didn't press further. Still, her gaze fell on the wedding dress. She frowned. "Isn't the dress a bit loose?"

Janice glanced down at her waist. The cut was clearly ill-fitting.

"They wanted to get the marriage over with as soon as possible, so they moved the wedding date up. The original dress couldn't be finished in time, so they found me a substitute dress instead."

The thought made her scoff. Every detail of this wedding screamed how little Wade cared about her feelings. She should have realized it sooner. Yet it had taken her this long to learn the lesson.

"Are you ready?"

Wade came in through the door. As a pilot, he had a fit and strong physique.

Janice turned to him, momentarily seeing the man she had loved for years; he was the only man she had ever truly seen.

In matters of the heart, she was pure and innocent, always giving her all to the person she cared for. Unfortunately, this relationship had left her badly wounded. Yet, she trusted that this painful lesson would be the catalyst she needed to grow stronger.

Ariel's gaze shifted to Wade.

He walked over, noticing the loose dress. His lips tightened. "I'm sorry. Everything's been too rushed."

Wade's brows furrowed deeply. Instinct pushed him toward the door. But then reality struck—today was his wedding.

He was caught in a dilemma.

Checking the time, he saw that an hour and a half remained before the ceremony. Expressionless, he said, "Tell me your location."

Hanging up, Wade strode back to Janice.

Her face was blank, her eyes fixed on him.

He sought her permission, though his mind was already set. Alicia had been in a car accident. Wade couldn't turn a blind eye.
