Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 322

"What?" Michael pulls his hand into the other. I hadn't thought of that either.

"I'll hold his hand," Bri says.

It's Krys' turn to be surprised her imprint isn't going with her, but eventually, they leave for the car.

"You know I'm going to hold my own hand, right?" Onai asks.

Bri chuckles. "I figured."

It's just Bri, Onai, Michael, Suzie, and me now. We stand in silence. Michael keeps eyeing Onai. Onai keeps looking away.

"What's his problem with you really?" Michael asks.

I don't think Onai's going to say anything until he does. "He doesn't like what I am-"

"That's not technically true." Rey strolls back into the backyard with a rusty wrench. "I just don't think a werewolf should go fucking wolves in the forest-"

"Could you shut up?" Onai talks over him.

Rey looks at Onai the way he looked at me. Animal.

Then he looks at Michael's confused face. He puts the pieces together. "He doesn't know?"

I grimace. Suzie curses under her breath.

"Know what?" Michael asks.

Rey chuckles as he drops the wrench onto the table, plopping into one of the chairs. "Nothing. Nothing." He pulls out a bottle of alcohol, drenching the wrench in it as if that could clean the ruined tool. "Let's just say-"

"Don't say anything else," Suzie and I say in unison, but Rey talks over us.

"Let's just say that in a perfect world, this beta wouldn't exist." Rey shakes the wrench of its excess liquid. "But don't worry. Clearly nature is correcting it."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Onai asks.

"Well, you're homosexual, so... nature's eugenics." Rey smirks and gestures to the seat he had his feet propped on before. "Let's get started, shall we?"

"It's not working," Rey stands over the beer bottle-yes, he made our potion in a beer bottle.

What does he mean? He cut Fei's little hand to draw blood. He all but sliced my palm open. Onai's mouth is still bleeding. We did all of this, and the potion's not going to work?

Onai's back tooth bobs in the bottle, along with our blood and other root juice Rey added.

"So it wasn't the murder weapon?" Bri asks.

Rey shakes his head. "It is. I can tell by how the tooth is reacting to the child's blood. The issue is, it's missing something."

The weapon. Check.

The blood of the luna. Check.

Ethel goes with Shen to bring Fei closer. The little girl starts crying, but Rey doesn't take her. He puts the lighter down, swishes the potion into his open palm, and rubs it in a backwards motion from Fei's eyes to her hairline. Her baby hairs stand on end as her eyes flash red, then gold, then not at all. They settle into a crystal blue that matches Shen's.

The pounding in my head stops all at once, but my heart quivers. I stand still, waiting for the pain to happen again, but it doesn't. I rub my chest while everyone's looking at Fei. I take a few deep breaths.

"Well?" Shen asks Rey.

"Well, what?" he asks.

"Did it work?" Suzie raises her voice.

Rey furrows his brow. "You dare doubt my abilities?"

Omg.

"Can we leave now?" Bri asks.

Rey nods.

"There aren't any follow up procedures, right?" Michael asks.

Rey shakes his head. "She's Silvermoon now, as long as the people whose DNA were put into this potion are alive."

Everyone pauses.

"Wait... what?" Ethel asks.
