Chapter 113 Almost Over
Ayla had completely shocked him.

How had she changed so much? It was like she had become a different person. There wasn’t a trace left of who she used to be.
Troy couldn’t figure it out, so he stopped trying.
As long as Ayla stayed obedient, he could live with it.
He got dressed and headed for the airport, texting Martin’s driver, Lincoln, to use a different exit after landing.
Ayla arrived at the airport an hour early. Martin’s flight had landed, but he wasn’t at the exit.
She called Lincoln.
He told her they were at another terminal.
So she had no choice but to drive over. The traffic was awful, and by the time she arrived, she saw Troy opening the car door for Martin and helping him in.
So it was Troy’s doing.
Ayla jumped out of her car and ran through the crowd toward them.
Troy had already seen her, but he acted like he hadn’t. He bent slightly and closed the car door for Martin.
“Grandpa-”
Ayla had just caught up when Troy grabbed her wrist.
She turned around and she saw Troy staring right at her.
To others, his expression might’ve looked gentle.
But to her, it was a warning.
Martin, of course, took it as affection. He nodded with approval and said, “Ayla, you and Troy are about to celebrate your third wedding anniversary. You should do something special.”
Ayla froze.
That’s right. Their third anniversary was next week.
Once that week passed, the cooling–off period would be over. She could finally file for divorce.
Just a few more days.
Martin smiled. “You two head back together. No need to see me off.”
With that, he told the driver to leave.

With Troy here, Ayla couldn’t say anything to Martin. But that was fine. A few more days, and she’d be free.
Troy noticed her distant look. “What are you thinking about?”
“Our anniversary,” Ayla said, lifting her head and looking at him with a calm, unreadable gaze.
“You excited?” he asked mockingly.
“I can’t wait.” Ayla said clearly, trying to pull her hand back.
But Troy tightened his grip. I’m not surprised to hear you say that. But knowing how you’ve changed, you probably mean the opposite.”
Right then. Troy’s driver pulled up in the Maybach.
Before Ayla could react. Troy used his strength to drag her into the car. The door slammed shut and the car pulled away.
Troy pressed her down by the waist, locking her against him so she couldn’t move.
Ayla used to love being close to him. She had longed for his embrace ever since their first meeting when his hug left a lasting impression.
But now, she couldn’t stand any physical contact with him.
Sensing her discomfort, Troy gripped her tighter, forcing her to sit on his lap.
Then he stared into her cool, steady eyes.
Troy had always had a normal sense of beauty, and Ayla was undeniably beautiful.
But the world had no shortage of beautiful women. He didn’t love her. He just didn’t.
Still, her eyes–they had always left an impression on him. Even though he never paid much attention to her, the moment someone said her name, he’d think of her eyes.
And now, those same eyes were fixed on Draven.
Troy couldn’t stand that.
Ayla didn’t fight him. She knew there was a strength gap between men and women. But her whole body screamed rejection.
Troy’s heart dropped. He looked at her coldly. “What, you can’t stand me now? Planning to crawl into
Draven’s bed?”
His tone was flat, like he was saying something casual. But every word was harsh.
As he spoke, his fingers traced her cheek, lingering near the corner of her eye.
That’s when he noticed something for the first time–a tiny black mole near her eye. It was so small he thought it was dirt at first, but it wouldn’t rub off.

His touch was slow and deliberate. Intimate.
But when their eyes met, there was nothing romantic between them.

If this had happened before, Ayla would’ve panicked. She would’ve done anything to prove her innocence, even tear her heart out if she had to.
But now, she just gave a cold laugh. “Don’t worry. The day I climb into Draven’s bed, you’ll be the very first to know.”
Troy had thought of all the ways Ayla might respond.
But he had never imagined this.
His hand froze, and his expression darkened.
Maybe she’d been too nice to him in the past. Even when she made him angry, she’d always apologize right away. He had never truly experienced what it felt like to be furious.
Now he did.
Inside, it felt like a bomb had gone off. The anger was burning hot enough to consume him. But on the surface, his face stayed calm.
Like a stone sinking to the bottom of a lake. The water above barely rippled, while underneath, a school of fish scattered in panic. The deeper it went, the messier it got–spinning into chaos. But the surface remained still.
