Ayla was speechless. Yeah, that’s something he’d do.

Will couldn’t help sneaking a look at her. You’ve got serious selfcontrol. If a woman treated me like that, I’d be flustered and start catching feelings. I’d have to watch myself, or I’d fall for her. My head would be a mess.”

Sure, that’s normal. But Mr. Storm isn’t into women.”

What Draven said earlier could’ve sounded suggestive, but Luke was provoking him, and Draven just played along, hardly blameworthy.

As for the loungehe’d been drugged, so his mind wasn’t clear. That’s why he said he’d wait for her divorce. Given how disgusted Troy made him, he didn’t want her keeping any loose ties to Troy, so he urged her.

Besides, Draven already made it clear. Only when she was fully divorced would he believe Troy was truly in her past.

So, all in all, Draven didn’t act out of character tonight.

Will felt that strongly. Exactly. That’s who he is. Nobody gets to shake him.

Ayla nodded. Yeah, that’s why he stands out.

You sound like you really look up to him.”

Mr. Storm has this magnetic vibe. Tons of people admire him. I’m just one of them.

Will said he looked up to Draven, too. Then, they switched to talking about Luke making headlines. Ayla, you blew my mind. You surprised me in the best way. No wonder Halle says you’re the love of her life. You’re amazing.

Shawn had asked them to keep things quiet, but gossip still spread. Troy kept tabs on Draven, so he knew everything by 2:00 a.m.

Draven standing up for Ayla? To Troy, that was just him protecting his own peoplenot evidence of feelings.

He just hated seeing Ayla connected to Draven at all. And he hated even more that they were going through all that together.

What really set him off? Today was their third wedding anniversary.

Before, he might have forgotten. But a week ago, he reminded Ayla that the anniversary was her deadline to apologize.

She didn’t come home. Instead, she spent the week traveling for business with Draven.

She had no intention of apologizing and was basically daring him.

Troy was not just upsethe was furious.

Yeah, he was angry!

So a few hours later, he flew into Aqualith on his private jet.

He sat in the hotel lobby below Ayla’s floor and called her.

Ayla had finally finished her week and was taking a day off, sleeping in. When the phone rang, she didn’t check the caller and just answered, Hello.

It’s me.”

Her eyes opened slowly, shaking off sleep instantly.

Troy said, Come downstairs.

Ayla sat up fast, rushed to the floortoceiling window, and looked down. But she saw nothing. You came to Aqualith?

Troy let out a harsh laugh. Yeah. I came to spend our anniversary with you.”

Oh, so today’s our anniversary? Wow, Troy, you actually remember?Ayla’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.

Anger flared in him. You don’t remember? Didn’t you say you were looking forward to today?

Uhhuh. It’s been four whole weeks.”

He didn’t understand. Four weeks of what?

Suddenly, it clicked for her why Troy hadn’t really listened to anything she’d said all month. He hadn’t taken the divorce seriously at all. To him, it was just the same old venting. He never thought she’d actually go through with it. He never guessed she was serious.

Once it hit, Ayla clenched her teeth.

Twentyeight days have passed. Just two more, and it’ll be Monday.”

Following her words, Troy’s face fell.

He gripped his phone tighter, his expression darkening. People in the lobby noticed the change and instinctively stepped back.

We’re going to the courthouse to get the divorce certificate,Ayla said, each word sharp and cold. Don’t forget to show up.

Then, she hung up.

Troy had shown up at dawn just to ruin her mood. After hanging up, Ayla stayed still for a moment, seething. Then, she cleaned up, got dressed, and asked the staff to send her breakfast upstairs.

The door opened, but it was Troy.

He wore plain casual clothes, looking like he hadn’t slept. His face looked pale, with dark, bruised shadows under his eyes. There was a harder, more dangerous edge to him now.

He shut the door behind him, and it hit the frame with a heavy bang.

Troy didn’t move or speak. He just stared at Aylathe woman he hadn’t seen in a week. She wore all black, sharp and businesslike. Her skin was fair, her gaze cool, and her expression blank, giving her an icy, lethal edge.
