Chapter 163 Let Go
Other than the mess of emotions in her chest, Ayla felt a strange rush.

She knew the excitement wouldn’t last. Once the excitement faded, the dopamine would drop, and her mood would crash. She just didn’t know when.
But right now, she was happy. Truly happy.
About ten or maybe twenty minutes later, she saw Draven walking toward her with long, steady strides.
Ayla looked up.
Draven had always struck her as the kind of man who carried himself like royalty- untouchable, cold, and refined. He looked nothing like someone who would ever get into a fistfight.
But the fight earlier, as out of place as it was, had been intense to watch. Maybe it was because both he and Troy were ridiculously handsome and tall. Even their fight looked like something from a movie.
Ayla rarely got to see Draven look anything less than perfect. Now, his coat was wrinkled. There was a bruise near his mouth. A few strands of hair had fallen across his forehead.
His face was still unreadable, but he looked different–less polished, more human, still powerful but with a rough edge she wasn’t used to. Now he seemed a little freer, more real.
Ayla sat in the passenger seat and was just about to get out.
But a hand blocked it. The door barely opened an inch before he pushed it shut again.
Draven walked around the front of the car and got into the driver’s seat.
Ayla guessed he had something to say.
But once he sat down, he didn’t speak. He rested one hand on the steering wheel, his eyes distant through the windshield, too deep to guess what he was thinking.
He didn’t look like he planned to talk.
So, Ayla broke the silence. “After I left, you two didn’t keep fighting, right?”
Draven didn’t look at her. “No.”
“Why did you suddenly start fighting in the first place?”

Draven turned his head at that.
His presence hit her instantly–sharp, heavy, and overwhelming. Whenever they were alone, Ayla always felt the pressure of his personality pushing down on her.
She quickly explained, “Mr. Storm, don’t get me wrong. I don’t think you fought because of me. I just figured you two have some grudge. I was curious.”
Draven’s expression stayed dark, giving nothing away. “I can’t stand him. I don’t need a reason to hit him.”
Ayla had no words.
Of course.
Those two were born to clash.
She tried again. “Why were you here, anyway?”
Last night, when people learned she was getting divorced, everyone reached out to check on her.
Everyone except Draven. He only cared about one thing: her getting the divorce certificate. She didn’t expect to run into him at the courthouse.
She didn’t know if it was a coincidence or on purpose.
And if it was on purpose, then it only meant one thing. Draven truly couldn’t stand the idea of his secretary married to someone he despised.
“I was just passing by,” Draven said in the same calm tone.
Ayla didn’t doubt him at all. “What a coincidence, then.”
When Troy confronted her earlier, she’d actually been worried she wouldn’t be able to leave.
Good thing Draven showed up and helped her.
But as they talked a little more, Draven’s mood softened. He finally looked her over, and then he saw the divorce certificate in her hand. His eyes darkened. “Congratulations,” he said quietly. “The divorce went through.”
Ayla tightened her grip on the papers. “Yeah.”
Draven’s fingers curled around the steering wheel. Whenever Troy was mentioned, Ayla changed. He could feel it, and he hated it.

Chapter 163 Let Go
An hour ago, he already knew Ayla had gone to Troy’s office building to wait for him.
Troy actually mattered enough for her to waste an hour of her time. And during that hour in the car, she had probably thought about Troy the whole time.
Draven didn’t want to admit it, but he was jealous.
And it was the kind of jealousy he couldn’t afford to think too deeply about.
If he did, he might not be able to hold back the devil inside of him.
Everyone thought Draven stayed calm no matter what. But only he knew the truth; he wasn’t as controlled as people believed. He was human too. His heart could lose its rhythm for someone.
Ayla, who was always sensitive to people’s moods, sensed that his mood was dark.
It wasn’t surprising. He had just gotten into a fight with Troy. How could he be in a good mood?
She noticed the scraped skin across his knuckles. He had hit hard.
“Mr. Storm, your hand needs to be treated,” she said. “Let’s stop by a pharmacy.”
Draven shot her a sideways look, expression flat. “You care about me?”
“It’s just basic human decency.”
Draven lowered his eyes a little, making his gaze seem deep and sharper.
Ayla grew nervous, then she heard him ask, “I hit Troy. Will you care about him?”
For a second, Ayla had no words. But her answer came fast and firm. “No. Not at all.”
“So you’ve let him go already?”
“In terms of time, yes, it looks fast. But it doesn’t feel fast. I let go because disappointment kept building up again and again.” Her voice was calm but clear. “I didn’t leave him overnight. I made that choice only after disappointment piled up again and again. That’s why the divorce wasn’t sudden for me.” She added, “Mr. Storm, maybe you don’t know. We argued twice today, even while signing the divorce papers. And I finally saw him clearly. He’s selfish. He always expects others to bend around him, but he never gives anything back. A person like him—no one should love him for long. For me, the divorce is freedom,” she said. “There’s nothing left to hold
on to.”
