He watched her reaction and said quietly, “James keeps teasing us. Do you know why?”

“Isn’t that just his personality?”

“It’s because my mom keeps pressuring me to get married. You’re my secretary and the only woman close to me. James wants to help her, so he stirs things up.”

“Mr. Storm, you’re great. I don’t think you’re short on admirers.” Then she suddenly realized the topic was extremely personal. And like everyone hearing gossip, she was hooked.

Draven thought plenty of people liked him, but the one he liked didn’t like him.

“But I don’t like them.”

“…Yeah, I can tell. That’s who you are.” Ayla suddenly felt awkward. Draven’s coldness was obvious to everyone. She had actually believed he wanted her as a girlfriend because he had feelings for her.

But that wasn’t what he meant at all.

Draven said, “I’ve never dated. I’ve always been single. People think I’m into men, but I’m not. I just haven’t met someone I like. And now that Troy has already been married, my mom is going to push even harder.”

Ayla didn’t respond, but it felt like the gossip turned around and hit her back.
