Draven didn’t look embarrassed like most people would after being caught staring. His eyes stayed locked on her face, bold and unreadable, carrying a pressure that felt overwhelming.

Ayla couldn’t stand it. It felt like she’d been burned. She quickly pulled her gaze away and stared straight ahead.

A few seconds later, she whispered, Sorry.

No answer came from the man.

But soon, the heavy stare disappeared. Ayla worked up her courage to glance at the rearview

mirror.

Draven had leaned back with his eyes closed.

From the estate to the Westhaven’s garage, the only sound was the hum of the engine. No one spoke.

When she rode with Troy, the silence always felt suffocating. With Draven, the pressure was worsebut strangely, it didn’t feel the same.

The car reached the garage in no time.

Draven looked like he was asleep. Ayla didn’t want to wake him, but she doesn’t feel so good. Ayla needed to get home, take cold medicine, and go to bed. She had no choice but to wake him up.

Mr. Storm, we’re here.

No response. His eyes stayed closed.

Mr. S-

Draven opened his eyes. Their eyes met. His dark gaze was wide awake, with not a trace of drowsiness.

Did he ever fall asleep on the whole ride?

Ayla swallowed and skipped the rest of her words. We’re here.”

The elevator carried them to the top floor.

They walked out together, each opening their door with the fingerprint lock.

Before stepping inside, Ayla glanced at him and politely said, Good night.

Draven had already opened his door but didn’t go in. He stood there, expressionless, staring at

her.

Ayla froze.

The car keys were already returned. Did he want her to thank him again? Or was there something else he needed to say?

After a short pause, she tugged off the coat she had been wearing. Folding it neatly in her arms, she stepped closer.

Draven’s eyes followed her hands. Toss it to me.

She didn’t throw it. Instead, she walked up and handed it to him. Thank you.

He took the coat, turned, and shut the door in her face.

Ayla stood there speechless.

Cold. Distant. Untouchable. That was Draven.

Still, no matter his reason, she meant it when she thanked him. Even if he never once looked at her as someone who mattered.

Inside his house, Draven glanced at the coat. It now carried her scent. He had a thing about cleanliness. Without hesitation, he tossed the expensive garment straight into the trash.

He poured himself a glass of water in the kitchen. Setting his phone on the bar counter, he tapped play on a voice message from Will.

As he sipped, Will’s voice came through the speaker.

Mr. Storm, Blake sent me some updates about the company. There’s something you need to know. Ayla is your secretary.

Ayla went home, took some cold medicine, and crawled under the covers. She fell asleep right

away.

The next morning started a new week.

Ayla thought she might wake up sick, but the medicine worked like magic. She opened her eyes feeling fine, without any aches or fever.

Today was the day the CEO of Storm Group was returning from overseas. Everyone at the company had been waiting for it.

But the coworker who sat next to Ayla, Sacha Morrison, had called in to take a day off. Her work had been handed over to Ayla.

On the phone, Sacha sounded guilty. Ayla, I’m so, so sorry. My husband’s company is holding at ceremony with their partners, and he insisted that I should go with him. I tried to refuse, but he already had a gown and jewelry ready for me. I couldn’t say no, so I took the day off. Can you cover for me?

Sacha was the one whose husband Ayla had seen pick her up before.

The couple had met in college, married a few years back, and were still very much in love.

Whenever her husband had an important event, he always brought Sacha along. He made sure she had the perfect dress and jewelry. That man even introduced her proudly to everyone. He wanted the whole world to know Sacha was his wife.

Ayla smiled. It’s no problem at all.

You’re the best, Ayla. If you see the CEO, take a secret picture for me, okay? I hope he’s handsome. That’ll give me the motivation to come to work every day!

Ayla laughed. She was curious about the mysterious CEO too.

Deal.

But by noon, the CEO still hadn’t shown up. Even the vice president was missing.

Then Blake, the chief secretary in the CEO’s office, called Ayla in. That’s when she learned both the CEO and Vice President were attending a summit on AI trends. Blake handed her a folder and said she needed to deliver it there.

With a guest pass around her neck, Ayla left right away.

Since it was an AI summit, it wasn’t just a meeting. Dozens of tech companies had set up displays. The whole place looked more like a tech expo.

Ayla flashed her badge at the entrance and stepped inside.

The venue was huge to fit all those companies. She walked a long while before she was anywhere near the meeting hall. Suddenly, two security guards blocked her way. They grabbed

her by the arms and started dragging her out.

What are you doing?Ayla shouted in shock.
