Better to make things bigger and sit back to reap the benefits.

Max suddenly felt he wasn’t exactly a good person either. But so what? To reach a goal, any means would do. That was how he was. And Max had no doubt that Draven was even more

ruthless.

Troy didn’t stay any longer.

When he returned to the villa, his eyes instinctively went to the couch.

There used to be someone there, waiting for him to come home, no matter how late it was.

Now, it was completely empty.

Troy had meant to go straight upstairs, but instead, he lost control and walked over to the couch, sitting in the spot where Ayla used to sit.

There was a small box on the coffee table, with a note pressed underneath.

It was from Laura.

Mr. Winston, the glass has been repaired.”

Troy opened the box.

Inside was the repaired M.L pineshaped glass.

He held the glass in his hand, lowered his head, and examined it closely.

Repair techniques were incredibly advanced now. You couldn’t tell at all that it had once been broken clean in half.

Yet Ayla would rather give up this glass than give him another chance!

Troy’s gaze grew colder and colder as negative emotions surged violently inside him.

At this point, he had to admit a fact. Ayla was affecting his emotions.

He had never given Ayla the power to influence him. And yet, it still happened.

Troy didn’t want to admit it, but his heart was completely out of his control.

He hadn’t felt this kind of loss of control in a very, very long time. It felt terrible.

Troy thought again of what Rolf and Max had said. He suddenly tightened his grip on the glass. He used so much force that his fingers and knuckles turned white, as if the glass might shatter in the next second!

The next day was a workday.

When Ayla went out, she ran into Draven.

They exchanged a glance. As usual, Ayla greeted him. Mr. Storm.

Draven nodded and said nothing more.

This kind of interaction was normal. But maybe it was psychological. The atmosphere felt unusually subtle.

They reached the garage. After exiting the elevator, neither of them spoke. Ayla got into her Range Rover and drove to the office.

At the office, Ayla checked the schedule. Draven was going on a business trip today. She found an excuse and told Blake she couldn’t travel, so another secretary was assigned instead.

Draven heard Blake’s report, lowered his eyes, and said nothing.

When Draven and his group left the company, Ayla was sitting at her desk.

She couldn’t ignore it and glanced up.

Draven seemed to look in her direction too, but their eyes didn’t meet. She figured it was probably just her imagination.

After they left, Sacha couldn’t help asking, Why didn’t you go on the business trip with Mr. Storm? Traveling with a handsome guy like that isn’t work. That’s a companyfunded vacation!

Ayla said, Does your husband know you’re this obsessed with Mr. Storm?

Sacha lunged at her, looking fierce. Wow, Ayla. You’ve gotten bold. You even dare threaten me now!

Ayla couldn’t help laughing. Then they both dropped the subject.

The whole day went smoothly and normally.

After work, Ayla went home. Around 11 p.m., she suddenly got a call from Halle. But the one speaking was Troy. Come over.

Ayla was shocked. The moment she realized Troy had taken Halle’s phone, her heart clenched, and anger surged. Troy, what did you

do?

Troy didn’t answer. He hung up directly. Then Halle’s phone sent over an address.

Ayla had already showered and was wearing loungewear. She immediately changed into a set of workout clothes, put on a baseball cap, grabbed her car keys, and left without wasting a second.

She drove fast. Normally, it would take about an hour, but she got there in half that time.

The address was a business club. At least it wasn’t somewhere remote. Nothing serious should happen.

But it hadn’t been long since Troy kidnapped her last time. Ayla couldn’t help worrying that he’d

gone crazy again.

To be safe, she originally planned to call Draven.

But Draven was on a business trip and wouldn’t be back until tomorrow morning. It wasn’t convenient.

So Ayla contacted James instead.

They were neighbors. Once they found Halle, Ayla and James could send her home together.

Ayla arrived first since she drove faster. James hadn’t arrived yet. She planned to wait, but Troy called again to urge her.

Ayla couldn’t wait any longer.

She went straight to Troy’s private room.

Standing at the door, Ayla imagined many possible scenarios. In the past, Troy liked losing his temper and giving people the cold shoulder. But he wasn’t someone who kidnapped people on a whim. He rarely even argued. So what would he pull now? Ayla had no clue.

No matter which scenario it was, Ayla’s face looked terrible. She was deeply worried.

She paused for one or two seconds. Just as her hand was about to reach for the door handle, the door suddenly opened from the inside.

Ayla instantly lifted her head and looked inside.
